How to wash clams more cleanly?

Razor clams can be used to make a variety of delicious foods, but before cooking, we should also pay attention to cleaning them thoroughly. After cleaning, they should be soaked in water for half an hour and some salt water should be added to allow them to spit out the mud and sand.

1. After buying the clams, place them in a clean basin and fill it with tap water. Wash them first, then keep them in clean water. Don't put too much water, just enough to cover the clams, so that they can spit out water. Of course, it's best to add a little salt. If it is summer, it is impossible to keep this thing for a day (usually buy it in the morning and eat it at noon). So before you prepare to cook it (half an hour before), use a large bowl to scoop them out, then shake it violently. When it is almost done, wash them again with clean water, and then add the same amount of water. Shake and wash them again when you cook them, and that's it. (Remember: don't put too much water in the clams).

2. Add a little salt to the water, the saltiness should be about the same as the salt water you usually drink. Soak for about half an hour. Only with this saltiness will the clams spit out mud and sand. You can put some metal items such as kitchen knives while soaking, which will make the mud and sand be spit out faster. Then use a small toothbrush to clean the shell and remove the clam skin (mucous membrane). However, if you wash it too clean, the taste will not be as delicious as before.

3. Change the water several times during this process, and don’t fill the tank too full each time. Change the water about three times. Finally, add a few drops of sesame oil to the water.

4. After changing the water several times according to the above method, the clams are basically clean. When you take them out to cook, pinch the clam's straw and squeeze out the mud and sand.

Shellfish such as clams are prone to parasites, but they will not harm the body as long as they are fully cooked before eating.
