How long to steam swimming crab? Grasp the time and taste good

Crab meat is tender and has high nutritional value. The most common way we eat crabs is to steam them. So how long do we need to steam crabs? In fact, crabs only need to be steamed for about 20 minutes, at which time the meat is the most tender.

1. How long does it take to steam crabs before they can be eaten?

The main way crabs are eaten at home is by steaming. When steaming, the crabs struggle due to the heat, and when they are steamed to death, their abdomens move downwards, the yellow paste flows out, and a lot of nutrients are lost. The brain should be destroyed with a needle in advance to paralyze it. Then the abdomen can be turned upward during steaming to prevent the yellow paste from being lost. Generally steam for 20-30 minutes. Crabs contain parasitic cysts of lung flukes. If they are not cooked thoroughly, they can easily cause infection with lung fluke disease after eating. Steam the crabs right before eating, and steam only as much as you eat. It is best not to eat leftover crabs.

2. Which parts of crabs cannot be eaten?

1. The crab bubble is the crab stomach. Dig out the yellow in the crab shell and open it. The crab bubble is in the mouthparts.

2. The crab gills and the triangular white part under the gills are all very cold and dirty.

3. The crab heart is hexagonal in the center of the crab, hidden in the middle of the crab's abdomen where the yellow paste is the thickest;

4. Crab intestines, a small line hidden in the crab roe.

In addition to the shell and gills of crabs, they are also not edible. Open the cephalothorax (crab shell), you can see grayish-white strips and soft gill bars on both sides, which should be removed and discarded. When eating, be sure to find the stomach first and carefully separate and take it out, because the gastrointestinal tract contains various pathogenic bacteria and toxic substances, and the gastrointestinal wall is also very thin and can be easily broken, causing the contents to be stained with yellow paste.

3. What should you pay attention to when eating crabs?

1. When buying crabs, look at their vitality. Dead crabs should not be eaten, as they are harmful to health even if they are cooked. The rigor mortis and autolysis periods of river crabs are greatly shortened after death. The bacteria in the crab's body will multiply rapidly and spread into the crab meat, causing vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea in the eater. When buying crabs, you can tease the crab's eyes or turn the crab over. If it can bounce back quickly, it means it is very energetic.

2. Before eating crabs, soak them in light salt water to make them spit out dirty water and impurities, and wash them clean before cooking.

3. The gills and stomach of crabs cannot be eaten. Open the crab shell, the soft grayish-white strips on both sides are the gills, which should be removed and discarded; the triangular thing in the front half of the crab shell, below the eyes, is the stomach, which should be carefully separated and taken out.

4. Don’t eat leftover crabs. Crab meat easily spoils, so it is best to steam it immediately before eating and avoid eating leftover crab.

5. Crabs cannot be eaten with tea or persimmons. Do not drink tea while eating crabs or within 1 hour after eating crabs. Tea will cause certain components of crab to coagulate, which is not conducive to digestion and absorption, and may also cause abdominal pain and diarrhea. The tannic acid and other ingredients in persimmons will coagulate the crab meat protein. If the coagulated substance stays in the intestines for a long time, it will ferment and rot, causing vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and may also cause stones.
