Introduction to the treatment of Kashin-Beck disease

The treatment of osteomalacia should pay attention to correct methods and techniques, including traditional Chinese medicine treatment methods, because it can achieve good results and avoid and reduce other adverse effects. Chinese medicine can be taken orally or applied externally, or acupuncture, pain relief and massage can be used.

1. Treatment with Traditional Chinese Medicine: The early stage of KBD is characterized by qi stagnation and blood stasis, and the treatment is with drugs that activate blood circulation and remove blood stasis, promote qi circulation and relieve pain; the middle stage is characterized by cold and dampness blocking the collaterals, and the treatment is with drugs that dispel cold and dampness, dredge the collaterals and relieve pain; the late stage is characterized by phlegm and blood stasis, and the treatment is with drugs that remove phlegm and remove blood stasis, reduce swelling and relieve pain. When choosing medicines to treat KBD, Chinese medicine should select different medicines according to different stages in order to achieve better therapeutic effects.

2. At the same time, pain basically runs through the entire period, so acupuncture can be added to relieve pain. If functional disorders occur in the later stage, massage treatment can be combined with Chinese medicine for internal and external application, acupuncture for pain relief, and massage to improve function. Both internal and external treatments can be used to achieve the goal of improving symptoms, restoring function, improving quality of life, and reducing disability rate.

3. Western medicine treatment methods for Kashin-Beck disease Kashin-Beck disease cannot be cured, nor can it inhibit the progression of the disease. Symptomatic treatment can relieve pain. Surgery can be used for patients with obvious joint deformities. If locking and pain are caused by loose bodies, the loose bodies can be removed. If the joint movement is affected by excessive and large bony labrum, the bony labrum can be removed to improve function. If the joint is inverted or valgus, osteotomy can be performed. Because most of the lesions are bilateral or multiple, arthrodesis is not suitable.
