How to treat skin wart-like growths

Treatment of skin warts includes drug therapy, photodynamic therapy, and physical therapy. Common physical therapy methods include cryotherapy, electrocautery, and laser therapy. Of course, if the warts are individually huge, surgical removal is required.

1. Medication

(1) Fluorouracil ointment;

(2) intralesional injection of bleomycin;

(3) 0.7% cantharidin;

(4) 0.1% to 0.3% retinoic acid alcohol solution;

(5) 3% phthalate ointment or 3% phthalate dimethyl sulfoxide liniment;

(6) 0.5% podophyllotoxin;

(7) 5% imiquimod cream;

(8) Antiviral drugs;

(9) Others include salicylic acid, procaine, etc. Interferon, transfer factor, thymosin and other immune enhancers are injected systemically or into the warts.

2. Photodynamic therapy

Systemic or topical photosensitizers can cause local cell death after exposure to light and can treat some common warts and genital warts.

3. Physical therapy

Cryotherapy, electrocautery, laser therapy, and infrared coagulation therapy are suitable for small numbers of common warts and plantar warts.

4. Surgical resection

Some large warts can be surgically removed.
