There are 5 causes of secondary glaucoma

Glaucoma is a common eye disease in daily life. It is divided into primary and secondary types. Either type can lead to blindness if not treated in time or treated improperly. In life, there are five causes of secondary glaucoma, and people must pay attention to them.

1. Common causes of secondary glaucoma are as follows:

(1) Secondary to iridocyclitis: ① In acute iridocyclitis, the aqueous humor increases transiently, which is caused by inflammatory cells and exudates blocking the aqueous humor pathway or swelling of the filter curtain, resulting in obstruction of reflux, combined with extensive anterior adhesions around the pupil, pupil closure or membrane closure. ② Heterochromic cyclitis of iris, trabecular sclerosis or obstruction of trabecular spaces. ③Glaucomatous cyclitis syndrome.

(2) Secondary to lens changes: ① Lens dislocation stimulates the ciliary body and compresses the chamber angle. ②Lacqueolytic glaucoma is seen in hypermature cataracts. ③Expansion stage of senile cataract.

(3) Traumatic glaucoma: ① Hyphema or angle recession after eye contusion, leading to secondary glaucoma. ② After perforation injury, the contents of the eye are trapped, the lens cortex overflows into the anterior chamber, or foreign bodies remain in the eye, which may cause glaucoma.

(4) Systemic or intraocular hemorrhagic diseases: ① Neovascular glaucoma, seen in diabetic retinopathy, central retinal vein occlusion, retinal periphlebitis or after ocular trauma. ② Hemolytic glaucoma is caused by the destruction products of red blood cells and hemoglobin-containing macrophages after vitreous hemorrhage blocking the trabeculae, causing acute increase in intraocular pressure.

(5) Secondary to intraocular tumors: Increased intraocular volume, compression and blockage of the anterior chamber angle.

2. Why do people get glaucoma?

On the one hand, factors such as overwork, lack of sleep, mood swings, unhealthy diet or overeating can affect the vascular nerve regulation center and cause vasomotor dysfunction: on the one hand, it can cause capillary dilation and increased vascular permeability, resulting in ciliary muscle edema and forward movement, blocking the anterior chamber angle and obstructing the outflow channel of aqueous humor;

On the other hand, it can cause excessive secretion of aqueous humor, excessive pressure in the posterior chamber, pressure on the peripheral iris and move it forward, making the anterior chamber shallower and the anterior chamber angle narrower. These factors can cause a sharp increase in intraocular pressure, ultimately leading to an acute attack of glaucoma. Therefore, doctors call them triggers of acute glaucoma attacks. It can be seen from this that it is very important for glaucoma patients to maintain a regular life, stable emotions, a moderate diet, and pay attention to avoiding the stimulation of adverse factors.
