What to do with chapped mouth corners, how to treat it

Chloasma actually happens from time to time in our daily life. There are several reasons for this. It may be related to the patient's eating habits, or it may be caused by a viral infection. The treatment of chapped lips needs to be timely and correct, and attention should be paid to hygiene during the treatment process.

Angular cheilitis is commonly known as "sore corners of the mouth" and is characterized by redness, blistering, cracking, erosion, scabs, and desquamation at the corners of the mouth. The patient easily bleeds when opening his mouth, which even affects his eating and talking. The triggering factor of angular cheilitis is the cold and dry climate, which can cause the skin and mucous membranes around the lips and corners of the mouth to dry out and crack, allowing the surrounding bacteria to take advantage of the opportunity to enter and cause infection, leading to angular cheilitis; when the lips are chapped, people often habitually lick them with their tongues, which makes the corners of the mouth more likely to dry out; if the vitamin intake from the diet is reduced, resulting in a deficiency of B vitamins in the body, it will also lead to the occurrence of vitamin B deficiency angular cheilitis.

1. External treatment

For those with dry, scabby and painful corners of the mouth, the treatment method is to clear away heat and moisten dryness. You can apply Coptis chinensis ointment or sesame oil several times a day. For those with wet and rotten corners of the mouth, use detoxifying and anti-corrosive products. Use equal parts of Phellodendron chinense and wild rose root, grind them into powder, apply it locally, 1 to 2 times a day.

2. Western medicine treatment

Generally, vitamin B2 should be given, and vitamin B should be taken at the same time, because niacin and B6 are often deficient when B2 is deficient. You can apply gentian violet to the corners of your mouth to keep it clean and hygienic. If the interocclusal distance is too short, orthopedic repair is required.
