Neuroimmune diseases

Neuroimmune diseases

Many people don’t know much about neuroimmune diseases. This disease sounds rather abstract. It mainly refers to inflammatory demyelinating neuropathy or some diseases such as myasthenia gravis. Generally speaking, the incidence of this disease is higher in spring. As a patient, you must receive good treatment in time. This disease is relatively harmful to patients and they should seek medical treatment as soon as possible. Let’s take a look at this aspect.

Neuroimmune diseases

Immune diseases of the nervous system sound rather abstract, and the names of the diseases are not common. They mainly refer to multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, inflammatory demyelinating neuropathy (acute form is also known as "Guillain-Barré syndrome") and myositis. Except for Guillain-Barré syndrome, other diseases are chronic diseases, and most of them have a process of relapse and remission clinically. The patient may get better after a period of treatment, but may relapse under certain circumstances. With repeated episodes, the disability caused by the disease to the patient will become more severe. These diseases seriously affect the patients' motor functions. They may suffer from muscle weakness, paralysis of their limbs, or difficulty urinating and defecating, which reduces their quality of life. Therefore, care should be taken to prevent recurrence.

Spring is one of the seasons when this type of disease is more likely to occur or recur. This is because everything comes back to life in spring, and bacteria and viruses become active, especially viral infections are very common. Most of these diseases are triggered by bacterial or viral infections, or for patients who have already recovered after treatment, the infection can interfere with the immune system and cause the disease to relapse. In spring, the neuro-endocrine immune system also undergoes significant changes, which can cause the immune system to become unstable, which is one of the reasons why relapses are common during this season. Therefore, patients with these diseases should pay attention to adjusting their daily lives and preventing infections. If there are signs of fluctuations, they should go to the hospital as soon as possible.

Infection prevention requires patient self-discipline

This is even more important for patients receiving hormone or immunosuppressant therapy. Some people ask whether vaccines are beneficial. There is currently no report in the literature showing that vaccines are effective in preventing recurrence of these diseases. Some diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, can be triggered by vaccine injections, so vaccines are not currently recommended to prevent infection.

Immunoglobulin can be used. In addition to enhancing nonspecific immunity, immunoglobulin itself also has a therapeutic effect on these diseases, but it is expensive. Some Chinese medicines, such as Isatis Root, Isatis Indigotica Leaf, and Astragalus, have the function of adjusting the immune system and enhancing immunity. The most important thing is to strengthen your physical fitness and stay away from places that may cause infection, especially during influenza. Keeping the room ventilated and washing hands frequently can significantly reduce the chance of infection.

Maintaining a regular schedule and doing regular physical exercise are important ways to enable the neuro-endocrine immune system to adapt to environmental changes. Brisk walking, jogging, and moderate housework and gardening are beneficial
