A coccyx fracture is considered to be quite serious. In this case, patients must be vigilant and seek timely treatment. Of course, when we are healthy, we should pay more attention to it and take proactive measures to prevent it. Whether we want better treatment or prevention of the disease, it is necessary to understand the cause. 1. Coccyx fractures and dislocations are significantly more common than sacral fractures, especially in women, and often occur in life and sports accidents. Pain in the tail; the pain is generally tolerable and accompanied by direct or simple tenderness. Severe cases may affect bowel movements. Patients often do not like sitting or even refuse to sit because of the pain in the tail, and would rather lie on their side in bed to rest. 2. Local congestion; it is usually not obvious in the early stage after injury and is only seen when violence directly acts on the local area; but it can be clearly seen several days after the injury. Digital rectal examination: In addition to direct tenderness, strong simple tenderness and tension pain may occur when the end of the coccyx is touched. This is very helpful for diagnosis, especially in the early stage after injury, and can be used to determine whether it is a new fracture. 3. Sleeping flat on your back will compress the coccyx, causing symptoms to worsen. You can change to sleeping on your side. When sitting on a chair or sofa, the coccyx will inevitably be under pressure. You can put an air cushion on the buttocks, or sit on a narrow bench to leave the coccyx free and avoid pressure. Drink more water, eat vegetables rich in fiber, and keep your bowels open to avoid constipation that may aggravate symptoms. When constipation occurs, you can take honey and eat some bananas to relieve constipation. In severe cases, laxatives can be used. In the first few days, the pain symptoms are obvious and married women should suspend sexual life. Generally, the symptoms will be mostly eliminated in about a month, and there will be no sequelae afterwards 4. For a very small number of patients whose symptoms remain the same after a few months, blockade therapy can be used. If the effect is still not good after local skin disinfection, surgical method is adopted to remove the coccyx. Since the coccyx has little physiological function, there is almost no impact after its removal. |
