What to do with the sequelae of metatarsal fracture

In life, we often suffer fractures due to some accidents, among which the incidence of metatarsal fractures is not low. If the patient does not receive correct treatment after a metatarsal fracture, or does not receive proper care in life, sequelae may occur, which requires attention.

1. Metatarsal fracture is a common fracture, which is mostly caused by heavy objects hitting the instep, rolling, inversion sprain, or accidentally kicking a hard object. The main clinical manifestations are foot pain, swelling, and deformity. However, the manifestations of metatarsal fractures in different parts are slightly different, and they are divided into avulsion fractures of the base of the fifth metatarsal and marching fractures.

2. Metatarsal fractures will leave sequelae, generally including the inevitable sequelae caused by the fracture itself such as bone ischemic necrosis, bone development disorders caused by epiphyseal injury, etc. There is currently no way to prevent them. Other sequelae such as nonunion, malunion, joint dysfunction, etc. can be prevented.

3. After a fracture, you should eat more high-energy, high-protein foods, eat more foods rich in vitamin D (such as fish, liver, egg yolks, etc.), and get as much sun as possible. In addition, sitting for a long time after a fracture can easily cause constipation. At this time, you should drink more water to ensure smooth intestinal flow to avoid intestinal diseases.

Note:

You should pay attention to appropriate activities, but don't be impatient so as not to affect the healing of the wound. You should not take heavy tonic foods, such as bone soup, calcium tablets, etc. In addition, you should also pay attention to your diet and try not to eat foods that are difficult to digest to avoid gastrointestinal discomfort.
