What causes sweating in the palms and soles of feet

The palms and soles of the feet are hot. In fact, there are different types of sweating. Some are physiological, while others are pathological. The common physiological reasons are sweating in hot weather or after exercise, but if the sweating is abnormal or it is night sweats, then you should be vigilant.

1. Sweating can be divided into physiological and pathological types. Sweating in hot weather and after extensive exercise is a physiological phenomenon. It is a physiological function of the human body to excrete and regulate body temperature, and is controlled by the sympathetic nerves in the autonomic nervous system. When the ambient temperature or body temperature exceeds the body's own temperature set point, in order to prevent the body temperature from rising further, the sympathetic nerves become excited, controlling the secretion of sweat glands. The evaporation of sweat takes away heat, thereby lowering the body temperature. The secretion of sweat glands is closely related to the intensity of exercise, and the amount of sweating varies from person to person.

2. There are two most common types of pathological hyperhidrosis : one is night sweats, which occurs when you sweat unconsciously during sleep at night. The other type is spontaneous sweating, which occurs during the day and is not caused by labor, thick clothing or heat, or profuse sweating after a little exercise.

3. Sweating can be divided into primary and secondary . Primary hyperhidrosis refers to a state of hypersecretion of sweat glands without obvious cause. It is an autonomic nervous functional disorder caused by excessive secretion of sweat glands. Secondary hyperhidrosis is caused by the symptoms of hyperhidrosis caused by some neuroendocrine and other systemic diseases (such as hyperthyroidism, diabetes, hypoglycemia, cardiovascular disease, respiratory failure, etc.). In addition, according to the location of sweating, hyperhidrosis can be divided into systemic hyperhidrosis and local hyperhidrosis. Systemic hyperhidrosis is mostly secondary hyperhidrosis, while local hyperhidrosis is mostly primary hyperhidrosis.

4. Hyperhidrosis of the hands is actually a primary local hyperhidrosis , which is caused by excessive activity of the sympathetic nerves that control the secretion function of the sweat glands in the hands, armpits, and soles of the feet. There is a familial susceptibility, presenting an autosomal dominant inheritance trait, and it may be passed on to offspring.
