Hypothyroidism is a common disease, but many people let their condition worsen because they don’t feel anything. Many people discover their hypothyroidism during physical examinations, and some of their conditions are already quite serious. But what are the test indicators of hypothyroidism? There are professional data indicators in the test, which are also the basis for doctors to make diagnosis. Regarding the laboratory indicators of hypothyroidism, we can understand them through the following content. The following are the test indicators of hypothyroidism: 1. Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and sensitive thyroid-stimulating hormone (sTSH): TSH is secreted by the pituitary gland and promotes the synthesis and secretion of thyroid hormones by the thyroid gland. After technical improvements, the sensitivity of the method for measuring hypothyroidism has been increased, and the TSH measured is sensitive TSH (sTSH). The sensitivity of sTSH is about 10 times higher than that of TSH. 2. Thyroid stimulating hormone receptor antibodies (TRAb), thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPOAb), thyroglobulin antibodies (TgAb) and thyroid microsomal antibodies (McAb): all are autoimmune antibodies of the thyroid gland, and all reflect the autoimmune causes of hypothyroidism. 3. Thyroglobulin (Tg): Secreted by thyroid cells, elevated serum Tg is seen in inflammation and damage of thyroid tissue as well as stimulation of TRAb and TSH. 4. Serum total thyroid hormone (TT4) and total triiodothyronine (TT3): This is one of the methods to check hyperthyroidism. The indicators of hypothyroidism are stable and reproducible, but they are easily affected by the level of thyroid binding globulin and its influencing factors. 5. Serum free thyroid hormone (FT4) and free triiodothyronine (FT3): Free hormones in serum that are not bound to proteins can more accurately reflect the state of thyroid function than TT3 and TT4 for measuring hypothyroidism. However, due to technical reasons, the stability of the test results is not as good as that of TT4 and TT3. 6. Calcitonin (CT): Secreted by the parafollicular cells of the thyroid gland, this hormone mainly regulates calcium and phosphorus metabolism and is an important marker for medullary thyroid carcinoma. The above is an introduction to the test indicators of hypothyroidism. I hope everyone has a better understanding of hypothyroidism! |
