What are the symptoms of thyroiditis

The symptoms of thyroiditis require scientific recognition and understanding. The early symptoms cause patients to have good appetite, fatigue, mild insomnia, boredom and irritability. In the middle stage, the thyroid tissue is repeatedly destroyed, which will lead to a decrease in normal functional cells.

1. Early symptoms of thyroiditis

The early symptoms of thyroid disease are mainly hyperthyroidism. When the disease is mild, the patient only has mild symptoms of hyperthyroidism, such as good appetite, easy fatigue, mild insomnia, depression and irritability. If the degree of thyroiditis is severe, obvious symptoms of hyperthyroidism will appear. Taking some drugs to treat hyperthyroidism can achieve good results, but drug-induced hypothyroidism is also prone to occur. Some patients also "heal themselves" without treatment due to the reduction of inflammation. This stage is characterized by good efficacy and high recurrence rate.

2. Intermediate symptoms of thyroiditis

The mid-term symptoms of thyroiditis are mainly manifested as the coexistence of hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. During this period, the thyroid tissue is damaged repeatedly, and the number of cells with normal functions is greatly reduced. When the number of normal cells decreases to a certain level, symptoms of hypothyroidism will appear. Another characteristic of this period is that patients have symptoms of hyperthyroidism, but laboratory test indicators will be slightly high or normal.

3. Late symptoms of thyroiditis

The late stage symptoms of thyroiditis are hypothyroidism. During this period, the secretion of thyroid hormone becomes even less, which is clinically manifested as hypothyroidism. Therefore, during this period, although the test indicators of patients are normal after supplementing thyroid hormone, many people feel uncomfortable from time to time and sometimes still feel symptoms of hyperthyroidism. It is worth noting that some patients also develop hyperthyroidism indicators and symptoms due to worsening infection. This symptom is called "hypothyroidism to hyperthyroidism." Clinically, every occurrence of hyperthyroidism in patients with chronic thyroiditis indicates further aggravation of hypothyroidism.
