What is the effective treatment for meibomian adenitis?

The treatment of meibomian adenitis should be carried out in a timely manner to reduce the harm caused by these diseases as much as possible. The treatment of meibomian adenitis includes hot and moist compresses and magnetic therapy. In the later stages, it is necessary to pay attention to incision and drainage of pus.

1. Early moist heat compress or magnetic therapy can promote infiltration absorption or rapid suppuration of nodules.

2. Surgical incision: When pus spots are formed, they can be incised and drained. However, it should be noted that the incision for external hordeolum should be parallel to the eyelid margin, while the incision for internal hordeolum should be perpendicular to the eyelid margin. Avoid inappropriate squeezing to prevent the inflammation from spreading into the orbit and cranium, causing orbital cellulitis, cavernous sinus phlebitis, meningitis, abscesses, etc., which are life-threatening.

3. For stubborn and recurrent cases, autoimmune therapy can be used. Patients with systemic fever and swollen preauricular and submandibular lymph nodes can be given antibiotics and sulfonamide drugs.

4. You can use a clean hot towel for wet compress, 15 minutes each time, 3 times a day.

5. You can use a thread to prick the base of the middle finger on the opposite side of the child's affected eye. That is: when the child's right eye is affected, prick the base of the index finger of the left hand, and if the left eye is affected, prick the right hand. Note that the thread should not be too tight to avoid affecting the blood circulation of the child's fingers.

6. Apply eye ointment or eye drops to the affected area.

7. When the abscess matures, small abscesses will burst on their own and the pus can be wiped off with sterilized gauze; large abscesses need to be incised and drained in the hospital. After the pus comes out, apply antibiotic eye drops or eye ointment.
