What is the cause of the blisters on the eyeball and what should I do?

Our eyes have a very complex structure and are therefore easily injured. The organs of the human body will gradually decline with age, but not caring for the eyes when you are young can also lead to serious problems when you are old. Many people may have experienced blisters on their eyeballs, but they may not understand why blisters occur.

1. What causes blisters on the eyeball?

Bubble conjunctivitis is considered to be an allergic inflammatory reaction, which is most common in the corneal margin or its translucent tissue, with millet-sized round gray-white or light yellow small round bubble-like protrusions, about 2 to 3 mm in diameter. There is localized congestion around the blister, and there is no pain when squeezed by hand. After a few days, the epithelium of the nodule peels off and a small ulcer forms on the top, which usually heals on its own. The prognosis of bullous conjunctivitis is relatively good. It can heal itself in about 10 to 14 days. Treatment can be topical corticosteroids or subconjunctival injection. In addition, you should strengthen nutrition, exercise to improve your physical fitness, take cod liver oil pills, vitamin B2, calcium tablets, etc. For more stubborn cases, local freezing of the nodules can be performed

2. What to do if blisters appear on the eyeballs

(1) Identify possible causes and eliminate them.

(2) For internal medication, it is recommended to take calcium, antihistamines, oryzanol, etc. under the guidance of a doctor. For patients with acute symptoms, prednisone can be taken orally.

(3) Topical medications are mainly astringent and antipruritic. Commonly used lotions contain mint or phenol calamine, and antipruritic alcohol is used for external application. In emergency cases, boric acid solution or aluminum acetate alum solution can be used for wet compresses or soaking. When the damage improves to dryness and desquamation, urea cream, corticosteroids or sulfur cream can be used for treatment.

The above introduces some reasons why there are bubbles on the eyeballs and what to do about them. Generally speaking, there are two possibilities, one is bullous conjunctivitis, and the other is herpes simplex virus. No matter which one it is, we should pay attention to it. When you find that you have this type of disease but are not sure, it is best to see an ophthalmologist and not take medicine on your own.
