Is autism a karmic disease?

Autism usually begins in infancy and early childhood. Patients are unable to adapt to kindergarten life before school age and usually receive education at home, in medical institutions, or in special education schools. As they grow older, the patient's language and social skills will improve to a certain extent. A small number of patients go to ordinary primary schools for education, but some serious patients still remain in special education schools. Many people wonder if autism is a karmic disease. Let us learn more about it below.

1. Autistic patients have developmental disorders, interpersonal communication difficulties, narrow interests and stereotyped behaviors. About 3/4 of the patients have obvious mental retardation, and some children have good abilities in certain aspects despite their general intellectual disability.

2. Language and communication disorders are important symptoms of autism and the main reason why most children seek medical treatment. Usually they still cannot speak at the age of two or three, or there is language regression after normal language development. They have expressive language before the age of 2 to 3, which gradually decreases with age or even disappears completely. They remain silent for life or use limited language in very rare cases. They have some degree of obstacles in their perception and expression of language.

3. In fact, diseases caused by negative psychological emotions are also called causal diseases. Out of pity for the sentient beings in Jambudvīpa who are ignorant of their original minds, sinking into the six realms of reincarnation, suffering from the endless cycle of birth, old age, sickness and death, Sakyamuni Buddha showed great compassion and great mercy, responded to the world according to circumstances, and was born in the world. His various teachings are to solve the problems of the suffering of sentient beings and make them get rid of suffering and obtain happiness. However, illness is one of the many sufferings. Although the disease obstacle is empty in itself, we ordinary people have poor mental abilities. When the disease obstacle arises, the illusion becomes real. When we encounter the causal mind, we cling to the pain. As soon as a minor illness such as toothache or dizziness appears, we feel unspeakable pain. What’s more, what’s more, when we are bedridden for a long time, we are suffering from a serious illness that makes us unable to live or die.
