What are the common symptoms of hydrocephalus in adults?

Some clinical symptoms of hydrocephalus in adults are mainly as follows:

1. The clinical characteristics of acute hydrocephalus are generally manifested as headache, nausea, vomiting, visual impairment, etc.

2. Characteristics of chronic hydrocephalus: The main clinical feature is chronic increased intracranial pressure, which may cause bilateral temporal or whole skull pain, nausea, vomiting, optic disc edema or optic nerve atrophy, intellectual development disorder, motor dysfunction, etc.

3. The clinical manifestations of static hydrocephalus are similar to those of normal intracranial pressure hydrocephalus. The volume of the ventricles remains stable or shrinks, no new neurological damage occurs, and psychomotor development continues to improve with age.

4. The main clinical manifestations of normal intracranial pressure hydrocephalus are: unstable gait and varying degrees of movement disorders, ranging from slow, unsteady walking, and imbalance to inability to walk and eventually bedridden; mental disorder is one of the earliest symptoms, with memory loss in the early stages and dementia in severe cases. Some patients may experience incontinence.
