What is sinus bradycardia?

Many people are unfamiliar with sinus bradycardia. Sinus bradycardia is a type of heart disease. The general characteristics of the disease include symptoms such as angina pectoris. People have different physical constitutions, and sinus bradycardia also has different symptoms. It is very dangerous to the health of the heart and will also cause some effects. So what is sinus bradycardia?

Clinical manifestations

1. Sinus bradycardia is generally asymptomatic if the heart rate is not less than 50 beats per minute.

2. If the heart rate is lower than 40 beats per minute, it may often cause symptoms such as angina pectoris, heart failure or syncope.

Sinus rhythm

There is a special small nodule on the right atrium of the human body, which is composed of special cells and is called the sinoatrial node. It can automatically and rhythmically generate electric current, which is transmitted to various parts of the heart in the order of conduction tissue, thereby causing contraction and relaxation of myocardial cells. The normal heartbeat of the human body originates from here, which is the "pacemaker". Every time the sinoatrial node generates an impulse, the heart beats once, which is medically known as "sinus rhythm." Therefore, the normal heart beat should be sinus rhythm.

The sinoatrial node is the highest "command center" of heart beats. Therefore, a normal heart must have a normal sinoatrial node, and a normal sinoatrial node has strong autonomy. Any heart rhythm formed by the excitation of the sinoatrial node is collectively called sinus rhythm. The frequency of the sinoatrial node is 60 to 100 beats per minute, but 25% of young people have a heart rate of 50 to 60 beats per minute, children under 6 years old can exceed 100 beats per minute, and newborns can reach 100 to 150 beats per minute.

Many people, especially young people, often receive the diagnosis of "sinus bradycardia" when checking the electrocardiogram during a physical examination. Most people know that the heartbeat should be regular, so when they hear "sinus bradycardia", many people think it is an abnormal phenomenon. Although there are no symptoms, one still seeks medical treatment and experts everywhere in the hope of curing the "disease" as soon as possible. But doctors often say, "No need for treatment." These people become worried again, wondering if it is some difficult or complicated disease that cannot be cured. In fact, "sinus bradycardia" is a normal physiological phenomenon, not a disease. "Sinus arrhythmia" is most common in children and adolescents, but is also not uncommon in adults.
