What are the symptoms and treatment of thyroid cancer?

Thyroid cancer is a common endocrine tumor in clinical practice. It is not a special disease, but a type of cancer. Its treatment and prognosis are better than those of other diseases. Therefore, patients are advised to actively undergo treatment.

1. Symptoms: The early symptoms of thyroid cancer are not obvious and are often mistaken for sub-health conditions. For example, a lump appears in the neck. Most patients experience symptoms such as hoarseness and difficulty swallowing. If the tumor compresses or invades the recurrent laryngeal nerve, breathing difficulties or suffocation may occur. If bone metastasis occurs, joint pain, bone pain and other symptoms may occur;

2. Treatment: The treatment of thyroid cancer is mainly surgical resection. Some patients also need radionuclide therapy before or after surgery, as well as endocrine therapy and external radiation. Especially for patients with mid- and late-stage thyroid cancer, radionuclide therapy is required after surgical resection, and thyroid function should be checked regularly to adjust the thyroid hormone dose. Thyroid cancer patients can also use chemotherapy or radiotherapy after surgery to reduce the spread and metastasis of cancer cells;

3. Prognosis: The prognosis of thyroid cancer patients depends on the type and stage of the tumor and the effect of treatment. The earlier the treatment, the better the effect. If the patient can detect thyroid cancer early and undergo surgical resection in time, the prognosis will be better and the patient may even survive for a long time. However, if the patient has distant metastasis, tumor tissue invasion or difficulty breathing, the prognosis is poor. Patients diagnosed with thyroid cancer at an early stage may be cured after active surgical resection.

4. Complications: As thyroid cancer tumors grow and invade surrounding tissues, they may compress the esophagus, trachea or recurrent laryngeal nerve, causing symptoms such as difficulty swallowing, hoarseness and even difficulty breathing.

When patients have an unexplained neck lump, they should seek medical attention immediately. If diagnosed with thyroid cancer, timely surgical removal is recommended to prevent the disease from continuing to develop and affecting the patient's health.
