High urate levels are a common disease. If not treated promptly, it can cause symptoms such as asymptomatic hyperuricemia, acute hyperuricemia arthritis, and gouty arthritis. When faced with these symptoms, patients should control them in time, insist on moderate aerobic exercise every day, drink more boiled water, eat more light vegetables, etc.; they must eat less meat and avoid alcohol, otherwise it will worsen the condition.

1. Symptoms

High uric acid levels occur in different stages and will manifest differently in different manifestations.

1. Asymptomatic hyperuricemia: Blood tests may reveal an increased blood uric acid concentration, but no clinical symptoms such as arthritis, hyperuricemia or kidney stones appear. During this period, it is generally difficult to detect unless a test is done. Asymptomatic hyperuricemia may last for 10 to 20 years, and some people may never develop hyperuricemia throughout their lives. Generally speaking, the higher the blood uric acid level, the greater the risk of hyperuricemia.

2. Acute hyperuricemia arthritis: It can occur in all seasons, but is most common in spring and autumn. Local joint injury, overeating, excessive fatigue, damp and cold, certain medications, infection and surgical operations can all trigger acute attacks. These factors can cause the already supersaturated uric acid to form needle-shaped crystals that are deposited in the synovial fluid of the joints. The crystals are regarded as foreign by the white blood cells in the body and are phagocytosed. After being phagocytosed, inflammatory factors are released, causing acute attacks.

3. Gouty arthritis: The common attack sites are the thumb joint, ankle joint, knee joint, etc. Some patients with long-term gout may experience attacks in the finger joints or even the soft tissue part of the ear. The site of acute gout attack becomes red, swollen, hot and painful. It usually occurs at midnight and can wake people from sleep. In the early stages of gout, attacks often occur in the lower limbs. Gout can also cause kidney damage.

2. Control

1. Do appropriate aerobic exercise, but avoid strenuous exercise to avoid overstraining the joints. It is best to choose aerobic exercises such as swimming, Tai Chi, and table tennis to lose weight.

2. Drink more boiled water or light tea. It is best to control the daily urine output to around 2000ml. You can use diuretic acid-lowering tea and barley porridge to lower uric acid, and drink less hot beverages.

3. Eat more vegetarian food, but not all vegetarian food. Eat more purple eggplant, Shanghai green, lettuce, and lotus root. Avoid spinach as a green vegetable, and eat less or no beans at all. Eat more fruits, including lemons. Various fruits are composed of carbohydrates, which have a positive effect on making the body alkaline. In particular, eating more cherries can lower uric acid.

4. Eat less meat, but you cannot not eat it, because the protein contained in animal fat and animal protein is irreplaceable by other foods and is also necessary for the human body, but you must control the amount! Seafood, animal offal and hot pot are strictly prohibited (fish is of course a river fish, so you can eat less and drink more water after eating). Otherwise, if you eat meat excessively, all your efforts will be wasted.

5. Beer is definitely taboo! Other alcoholic beverages are not allowed or are strictly limited.

6. Develop the habit of soaking your feet in hot water every day or frequently. It is best to use an automatically heated footbath. Each time, soak for no less than 20 minutes and no more than 30 minutes. It is best if you can wash until your whole body sweats slightly. When washing your feet, you can add some Chinese medicine that can promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis.

7. Combine work and rest, pay attention to sleep, do not stay up late, relax your mind, and face things optimistically. Check your uric acid level every six months and try to keep it around 350. This way gout will not cause damage to any joints.

8. Eat more vegetables and drink more water.

9. Eat less beans and foods high in iron. It is recommended to eat more vegetarian food such as vegetables and fruits and not drink alcohol.

10. Do not eat seafood, especially squid, cuttlefish, shrimp and crab.

11. Do not eat mushrooms, especially shiitake mushrooms.

12. Eat a light diet, less oil and salt, and more whole grains.
