What are the early symptoms of sepsis?

We must pay attention to sepsis because the harm caused by this disease is relatively large, especially in children and adolescents, where the onset is often sudden and manifests itself with fever, progressive anemia, or lack of appetite, pale complexion, palpitations and shortness of breath.

1. Onset Leukemia can have an acute or slow onset, and children and adolescents often have an acute onset. Common initial symptoms include fever, progressive anemia, significant bleeding tendency or bone and joint pain. Most patients have a slow onset and their condition progresses gradually, including the elderly and some young people. The initial symptoms of this type of patients are often progressive fatigue, pale complexion, palpitations and shortness of breath after exertion, lack of appetite, weight loss or unexplained fever. In addition, a small number of patients may experience convulsions, blindness, toothache, gingival swelling, pericardial effusion, and paraplegia of both lower limbs as the initial symptoms.

2. Fever and infection A. Fever is one of the most common symptoms of leukemia. It may occur at different stages of the disease and have different degrees of fever and fever types. The main cause of fever is infection, among which pharyngitis, stomatitis and perianal inflammation are the most common, and pneumonia, tonsillitis, gingivitis and perianal abscess are also common. Ear inflammation, enteritis, carbuncle, pyelonephritis, etc. can also be seen. Severe infections may also cause sepsis and septicemia. B. The pathogens of infection are mostly bacteria, and in the early stage of the disease, Gram-positive cocci are the main ones. Although viral infections are less common, they are often more serious. Cytomegalovirus, measles or varicella virus infections are prone to complications of pneumonia, so please be careful.

3. Bleeding is also a common symptom of leukemia. Bleeding can occur throughout the body, with the skin, gums, and nasal bleeding being the most common. There may also be retinal bleeding, ear bleeding, and massive bleeding in the brain, digestive tract, respiratory tract, and other internal organs. Excessive menstrual bleeding is also common in women and may be the first symptom. The M3 and M5 subtypes of AML have more severe bleeding, especially M3 patients who are prone to disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) and intracranial hemorrhage and die.

4. Anemia can occur early. In a few cases, refractory anemia may occur months or years before diagnosis, and then develop into leukemia. Patients often have symptoms such as fatigue, pale complexion, palpitations, shortness of breath, and lower limb edema. Anemia can be seen in all types of leukemia, but is more common in elderly AML patients. Anemia is often the first symptom in many patients.
