What are the causes of heart failure

As people age, multiple organs will fail. The main sites of organ failure include the heart, blood vessels and other parts of the body. Organ failure is very harmful and may cause a variety of complications. Heart failure in particular can cause breathing difficulties, angina pectoris, lack of Qi and blood, and even ascites and vomiting. The organs most susceptible to failure include the heart, kidneys, gastrointestinal function, lungs, and liver function, which can have a doubly impact on breathing, blood flow, limbs, and abdominal cavity. If you are not careful, it can also cause patients to suffer from insomnia and low blood pressure. Therefore, you should learn about heart failure and other causes, especially the key protection of the heart.

First, you should understand what heart failure is and its causes:

The cause of heart failure is severe damage to the myocardium, which makes the heart unable to pump enough blood normally to supply the activities and metabolic needs of various organs in the body. As a result, the heart gradually becomes enlarged.

Cause:

Congenital heart disease and acquired heart disease, valvular heart disease, myocarditis, pericarditis, etc. In addition, some diseases other than heart disease can also cause heart failure, such as acute nephritis, persistent hypertension, and chronic lung disease. Symptoms: Fatigue, respiratory distress, orthopnea, inability to lie flat, acute pulmonary edema, leg edema, abdominal accumulation, hematemesis, water accumulation in the body leading to weight gain or weight loss, and blood in the sputum.

Early signs:

Heart failure refers to a condition in which, due to certain reasons, the myocardial contractility is significantly weakened, the blood output decreases sharply in a short period of time, causing circulatory disorders, resulting in insufficient blood supply to the arterial system and congestion in the venous system.

Heart failure often occurs in the elderly, and its symptoms mainly include the following 8 points:

① Difficulty breathing when working or climbing stairs;

②Sudden difficulty breathing during sleep, which improves when sitting up;

③Swelling of lower limbs and decreased urine volume;

④ Coughing, sputum, palpitations, and shortness of breath even though you don’t have a cold;

⑤Insomnia, fatigue, and loss of appetite;

⑥ The condition worsens, with convulsions in the limbs, respiratory arrest, and cyanosis, but after the attack, it returns to normal immediately;

⑦ Drop in blood pressure, increased heart rate, pale complexion, cold and clammy skin, and irritability;

⑧Extreme difficulty breathing, feeling of suffocation, coughing and spitting out large amounts of pink foamy sputum. If 1-5 of the above symptoms apply, it is a typical manifestation of early heart failure and should be paid attention to; if 6 of them apply, it is cardiac syncope caused by cerebral ischemia; if all of them apply, it is a manifestation of acute pulmonary edema.

When heart failure occurs, you should not move around. You can take a semi-recumbent or sitting position to alleviate breathing difficulties. If you sweat a lot, you should keep warm and get oxygen in time if conditions permit. You can also use cloth tape to rotate and tie your limbs, changing them every 5-10 minutes. This can reduce the amount of blood returning to the heart and reduce the burden on the heart. The patient's emotions should be stable and his spirit should be optimistic. After his condition has improved, he can be sent to the hospital for medical treatment.
