How to Make Your Own Black Hair Dye

1. Black beans and vinegar for hair dye

This method is very simple. Black beans have a black dyeing effect. You can soak the black beans in vinegar in advance and then leave them for about 24 hours. At this time, the black beans are already very soft and glutinous. Pour them into the pot and boil them until they become a black paste. Filter out the residue and apply the black bean paste directly on your hair. Wait for 2 hours and then wash it clean.

2. Hair dyeing with medicinal herbs

Take 30 grams each of angelica dahurica, white ginseng and white sandalwood powder, 90 grams each of talc and tonka bean, 90 grams of kaempferia salviae, 90 grams each of nard and indigo, mix and grind into powder. Then wash your hair with rice water, sprinkle the powder evenly on the damp hair, and comb it evenly with a comb.

3. Plant hair dyeing method

Some plants can also have the effect of dyeing hair black when mixed together. For example: after crushing the sour pomegranate fruit, sesame leaves and gallnut together, wrap them in a small cloth and sew them up. Then put them in an iron pot to boil water. After the water cools down, washing your hair can slowly dye your hair black.

4. Polygonum multiflorum hair dye

Polygonum multiflorum is the main ingredient in common black hair dye, so you can also use Polygonum multiflorum to make your own hair dye. Take 20 grams each of Polygonum multiflorum, Indigo, ginger, Nardostachys grandiflora and Bletilla striata, mix them and grind them into powder. Then add one liter of water and boil them. Be sure to use an iron pot to boil them. After simmering on low heat for an hour, you can make it into a hair dye paste. The Bletilla striata plays the role of fixing the black color, so there is no need to worry about the color fading in a few days.

Generally, after adding raw materials that fix pigments, this kind of homemade black hair dye can last for about three months without fading, which is almost the same as the growth cycle of hair.
