What to eat to maintain the pancreas

The incidence of pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer has been increasing in recent years, which is mainly related to people's eating habits. People who work in sales often drink and drink, which can easily lead to pancreatic diseases. Therefore, to prevent pancreatic diseases we must start with our daily eating habits. Take good care of the pancreas regularly, and children must control excessive drinking of carbonated beverages. Let’s take a look at what to eat to maintain the pancreas.

The pancreas is the second largest digestive gland in the human body. It is located in the central and posterior part of the upper abdomen. Its functions are divided into exocrine and endocrine functions.

1. The islet cells in the pancreas can produce insulin, which is an endocrine function. Manifestations of pancreatic endocrine insufficiency: 20% have significant symptoms of diabetes, such as polydipsia, polyphagia, polyuria, weight loss, etc. About 50% have latent diabetes, that is, abnormal results of glucose tolerance test.

2. Pancreatic tissue produces pancreatic juice, which is an exocrine function. Symptoms of pancreatic exocrine insufficiency: loss of appetite, abdominal distension, intolerance to greasy food, etc., frequent and large bowel movements with light color and foul odor. This is caused by reduced or lack of protease and lipase secretion.

3. Abdominal pain: The most common, accounting for about 90%, mostly intermittent attacks, the pain is mostly located in the upper abdomen, and can radiate to the back, bilateral hypochondrium, anterior chest, shoulder blades, etc. It can be induced after meals or after a full meal, aggravated in the supine position, and relieved in the forward leaning or sitting position. Attacks may be accompanied by fever or jaundice.

Maintenance of the pancreas: avoid alcohol, control high-fat and high-calorie diet; eat regularly to allow the pancreas to get sufficient rest, which is both common and very important.

1. Diet should be quantitative, regular and regular. Overeating will put the greatest burden on the gallbladder and pancreas. You should have 4 to 5 meals a day, or even 6 meals a day. Because of this, eat small amounts and multiple times.

2. Daily fat intake should be controlled between 20 and 40 grams.

3.Sugar is mainly obtained from food. Sugar is the best nutrient for both the gallbladder and pancreas. Sugar stays in the stomach for the shortest time, which prevents excessive secretion of bile and pancreatic juice, thereby reducing the burden on the gallbladder and pancreas. However, excessive intake of fructose or white sugar may also lead to obesity, promote the synthesis of cholesterol, and easily cause diabetes. Therefore, you should eat less fruit. Grains and potatoes rich in vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber should be the main source of sugar.

4. Actively take fat-soluble vitamins. Prolonged fat control will cause a deficiency of fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. You can take some vitamin supplements under the guidance of a doctor. But do not consume too much, and try to get vitamins from food. Yellow-green vegetables are rich in fat-soluble vitamins, so it is best to consume about 150 grams of yellow-green vegetables every day.

5. Drinking is strictly prohibited. Drinking alcohol is the biggest trigger for pancreatitis attacks.

6. Carbonated drinks produce carbon dioxide gas in the intestines, which can also cause the onset of pancreatitis. In addition, caffeine and spicy seasonings that promote gastric juice secretion should be avoided as much as possible.
