Is ALT 49 serious?

Whether a person's body is healthy depends on the maintenance of its normal functions. First of all, necrosis of liver cells will cause pathological changes, and there may even be poisoning or damage. In addition, attention should be paid to the liver, kidneys and heart. These three functions and organs are very important. If the hospital checks that you have alanine aminotransferase 49, don't rush to adjust your daily diet, work and rest schedule and regularity in life.

Alanine aminotransferase is the most sensitive indicator of the degree of damage to liver cells. When liver cells are damaged by degeneration, necrosis, poisoning, etc., alanine aminotransferase is released into the blood, causing high serum alanine aminotransferase levels. High alanine aminotransferase usually means liver damage. For patients with liver disease, it means a recurrence of liver disease. Therefore, patients with liver disease are most afraid of high alanine aminotransferase.

Liver disease experts believe that patients with high alanine aminotransferase levels must not only receive treatment targeting the cause of the disease but also pay attention to their diet. The following issues should be noted in the diet of patients with high alanine aminotransferase:

1. For patients with high alanine aminotransferase, attention should be paid to comprehensive nutrition, reasonable combination and prevention of picky eating. You need to consume adequate amounts of vitamins, fats, carbohydrates and proteins every day. The three meals a day should be reasonably matched, alternating between meat and vegetables, and spicy and other irritating foods should be eaten as little as possible to avoid developing bad habits of picky eating.

2. Patients with high alanine aminotransferase should drink a glass of milk every day, eat an egg, 2 to 3 taels of lean meat (pork, beef, lamb, chicken, fish), a piece of tofu, exchange two kinds of vegetables every day (lentils, spinach, rapeseed, celery, cucumber, mushrooms, fungus, etc.), and eat two fruits (apples, pears, peaches, bananas, etc. are not limited). Try to avoid spicy hot pot, seafood, fried foods, animal offal and other foods that are difficult to digest.

3. People with high alanine aminotransferase should eat some acidic vegetables and fruits, such as hawthorn, apricot meat, sour jujube, tomato, etc. In addition, edible fungi such as shiitake mushrooms and black fungus contain relatively rich polysaccharides, which are very beneficial for enhancing the immune function of patients with liver disease. Green food is the best choice for protecting and nourishing the liver. For fresh vegetables, patients can eat them raw or cook them into soup and exchange them daily.

4. Patients with high alanine aminotransferase should pay special attention to: strictly prohibit alcohol consumption. 90%-95% of alcohol is metabolized by the liver, and drinking will increase the burden on the liver. Moreover, ethanol, the main component of alcohol, has a toxic effect of directly stimulating and damaging liver cells, which can cause degeneration and necrosis of liver cells. The toxicity of ethanol affects the normal metabolism and detoxification function of the liver, leading to severe liver damage and alcoholic cirrhosis. Therefore, patients with high alanine aminotransferase should not drink alcohol, including red wine, beer and other alcoholic beverages.

In addition, it should be noted that a diet that causes high alanine aminotransferase is only one aspect of helping to restore liver function. In order to avoid repeated increases in alanine aminotransferase and repeated damage to liver cells, treatment must be carried out for the cause of the high alanine aminotransferase. Clinically, common causes of elevated ALT are liver diseases such as hepatitis B virus (HBV), alcoholic liver disease, fatty liver disease, and cirrhosis.
