Why can’t you wash your face with breast milk? It turns out there is such destructive power

Nowadays, we often hear the older generation asking parents to wash their baby's face with breast milk. It is said that washing the baby's face with breast milk can make the baby's skin whiter. However, because breast milk contains fat and sugar, these elements can provide energy to the baby's body, but they also contain some bacteria. The baby's skin is too delicate to come into contact with these. Therefore, try not to use too much breast milk to wipe the baby's face. Breast milk cannot be used to wash the face on a normal basis, but it can be used to feed the baby.

Why can’t you use breast milk to wash your baby’s face ?

As we all know, breast milk is the most ideal food for babies. This is because breast milk is rich in protein, fat and sugar. These nutrients provide sufficient energy for the baby's healthy growth.

However, these nutrients are also a good culture medium for bacterial growth and reproduction, providing conditions for bacterial growth. If breast milk is exposed to air, it can easily breed bacteria and spoil, especially in hot weather.

Infants and young children have delicate skin, rich blood vessels, thin stratum corneum that is easily damaged by friction, poor ability to control acids and alkalis, and strong permeability, all of which create favorable conditions for bacteria to enter the body through the pores.

If you rub breast milk on your baby's face, it can easily cause bacteria to grow, damage the baby's skin surface protective layer, and easily clog the baby's pores, affecting sweat excretion, leading to secondary folliculitis, causing purulent infection of the skin around the facial hair follicles, scabs, and leaving scars.

In addition, after applying breast milk on the baby's face, it will form a thin film on the baby's skin after it dries. This film will restrict the movement of the baby's facial muscles, making the baby feel very uncomfortable and crying. For this reason, I tried applying breast milk on my face, and after a while I felt a severe sense of confinement on my face.

Finally, because breast milk contains various proteins, the skin does not contain digestive enzymes like our gastrointestinal tract, which has the function of breaking down protein allergens. Therefore, it is likely to cause allergies when used on baby's delicate skin. Many mothers mistakenly believe that applying breast milk to their baby’s eczema will relieve it, but in fact it will only make the condition worse.

Can I use breast milk soap ?

After reading the above, some people may disagree and say, "Well, I won't use it for my baby, but I can make it into breast milk soap for myself or the adults at home, right?" In recent years, there has been an endless stream of breast milk soaps being sold online. These soaps are said to be pure natural, non-irritating, and able to whiten the skin.

However, in reality, from a medical point of view, it is not recommended to use breast milk soap.

First of all, it is difficult to be sure whether the milk you bought is made from breast milk. Secondly, even if it is truly made from breast milk, there is no guarantee whether the mother has an infectious disease or whether the production process is hygienic.

Someone said that I make it myself using my own breast milk, and that I have solved both problems, so you have nothing to say, right?

Even so, I still do not recommend using breast milk soap for adults. Because the main ingredient of ordinary soap is sodium fatty acid, which is mainly made by saponification of oil, it can remove facial oil, dirt, etc. For most people, the main function of using soap is to remove dirt and clean, but the ingredients in breast milk do not have this function.

If you blindly use breast milk soap as a cleansing product, not only will it fail to clean your face thoroughly, but the breast milk residue in the pores of your face will cause bacteria to proliferate, making your face "dirtier the more you wash it." Moreover, there is no scientific basis for the claim that washing your face with breast milk can whiten your skin.

"Dairy cows" with excess breast milk may wish to learn the correct way to store breast milk. They can preserve the temporarily excess breast milk properly and use it as "fast food" for their babies when they are at work or otherwise not around them!
