How to deal with phlebitis caused by infusion?

Although intravenous infusion is a very commonly used treatment method, it can also cause some serious sequelae. For example, phlebitis caused by intravenous infusion is a relatively common phenomenon. The occurrence of phlebitis is related to the doctor's unreasonable infusion operation standards and the patient's physical constitution. When phlebitis occurs, the wound needs to be treated. Let's take a look at how to deal with phlebitis caused by intravenous infusion?

Patients with infusion phlebitis have vascular intimal hyperplasia, slow blood flow, and the surrounding skin may show congested erythema, sometimes accompanied by edema, which gradually subsides and the congestion is replaced by pigmentation, and the erythema turns into brown. A small number of patients may experience reactions such as chills, fever, pain and swelling. Phlebitis usually occurs in the limbs, followed by the chest and abdominal walls, and a few cases present as migratory attacks. The clinical features are: sudden occurrence of redness, swelling, burning, pain or tenderness along the course of the vein, and the appearance of cord-like objects or nodules. After the acute phase, the cords become hardened and localized skin pigmentation occurs. When examining the affected limb, a cord-like hard object can be felt along the direction of the affected vein, which is tender. The surrounding skin may appear congested erythema, pigmentation, accompanied by itching, and the skin may become dark brown.

Solution:

1. If it is less than half a month, you can use magnesium sulfate solution for hot compress, but if it is more than 3 months, it is best to go to the hospital for a color Doppler ultrasound of the blood vessels to see the situation inside the blood vessels before treatment.

2. It is recommended to use traditional Chinese medicine to treat with blood circulation and muscle regeneration plaster. The plaster can dredge the meridians and activate the collaterals, relax the muscles and activate the blood circulation, clear away heat and detoxify, soften and disperse the nodules, make the meridians unobstructed, the Qi and blood flow smoothly, improve the peripheral microcirculation, reduce the inflammatory response, and quickly eliminate the swelling and pain. You should often lie in bed, and raise your legs about 6 cm so that they are just above the heart. Avoid strenuous exercise, drink plenty of water, and green tea and red wine are all good for you.

3. Apply local hot compress therapy or suspend infusion. Folk remedy: Slice raw potatoes and apply them to the affected area to see if there is any improvement.

4. You can use a hot wet towel for hot compresses, 20 minutes each time, 4 times a day. Avoid re-puncturing inflamed blood vessels. Inflamed blood vessels must be used only after symptoms have fully recovered and elasticity has been restored.
