Can external auditory canal eczema be treated?

Eczema in the external auditory canal actually has a great impact on the health of the ear canal, such as itching and pain, and in severe cases it can even affect hearing, so it needs to be treated in time to avoid further damage to health. There are many causes of external auditory canal eczema, such as artificial fabrics, environmental influences, food allergies, etc.

How to treat external auditory canal eczema

Just like skin eczema, the treatment of external auditory canal eczema should also start with adjusting the diet. For example, children who are allergic to milk should add complementary foods as early as possible so that they can replace milk with diet as soon as possible to eliminate allergic factors.

Secondly, people with external auditory canal eczema should avoid scratching, and should avoid using hot water and soap, as well as irritating drugs. At the same time, treatment should be carried out under the guidance of a doctor. If the skin lesions are relatively dry and there is no exudation, 10%~15% zinc oxide ointment, antibiotics and cortisone ointment can be applied externally; if there is a small amount of exudate in the skin lesions, gentian violet aqueous solution or zinc oxide paste can be used externally; if there is more exudate, boric acid water or hydrogen peroxide should be used for wet compresses. If the patient has excessive exudate from the skin lesions, calcium gluconate can be injected intravenously at the same time. If there is obvious infection in the skin lesions, antibiotics need to be used regularly under the guidance of a doctor.

If the patient's external auditory canal eczema is caused by suppurative otitis media, the patient needs to frequently clear the pus to reduce the irritation of the pus to the skin of the external auditory canal and aggravate the eczema.

Causes of external auditory canal eczema

1. Environmental allergens in modern clothing such as artificial fabrics, artificial leather products, clothing-related printing and dyeing agents, bleaching agents, brighteners, mothproofing agents, mildewproofing agents, and stiffening agents.

2. Environmental allergens of modern transportation, such as gases produced by the combustion of chemical fuels, materials used to make cars, ships, and airplanes, asphalt pavements of roads, pollen from green plants along the road, etc.

3. Environmental allergens in modern occupations, such as enzyme preparations used to make detergents in detergent factories, toluene diisocyanate in plastic factories, latex in rubber factories, antibiotics and other chemical raw materials in pharmaceutical factories.

4. Artificial food, convenience food, off-season food, fertilizers, pesticides, artificial feed, feed additives used in food production, preservatives, mineral oxidants, spices, pigments, ripening agents, thickeners, etc. used in food processing, and modern dietary environmental allergens.

5. Artificial building components, chemical coatings, plastic products, rubber products, artificial fibers, adhesives, waterproofing agents, electromagnetic radiation generated by household and office electronic equipment, room cleaners, pesticides are functional environmental allergens in modern living.

6. Environmental allergens related to certain modern lifestyles, such as the use of cosmetics and cats, parrots, etc. When the human body lives under the influence of such adverse environmental factors for a long time, it can lead to immune dysfunction and eventually cause allergic reaction to the environment, thus causing external ear eczema.
