Can sucking on an empty pacifier really soothe a baby? 90% hidden dangers

Many parents will put an empty pacifier in the baby's mouth when the baby often cries and refuses to sleep. This way, the baby will fall asleep quickly in a short time. However, habitually letting the child sleep with an empty pacifier in his mouth will have a bad influence on the child. It will cause malnutrition due to inhaled air and make the child more susceptible to infection. Sleeping with a pacifier in the mouth for a long time can also easily affect the mouth and teeth.

The harm of sucking empty pacifier

(1) Deformation of teeth

Because the baby sucks the pacifier hard in front of his gums, his teeth may become deformed (protrude outward), causing uneven tooth growth, and he will have a pair of ugly "bumpy teeth" when he grows up.

(2) Inhaling air

A large amount of air will be inhaled into the gastrointestinal tract, which can easily cause diarrhea and loss of appetite in babies.

(3) Malnutrition

Frequent sucking on an empty pacifier will cause the baby to form a conditioned reflex, which will stimulate the central nervous system and cause the secretion of digestive juices. Over time, this will disrupt the digestive function. However, when the baby is fed, the secretion of digestive juices will decrease or be insufficient, which will affect the digestion and absorption of food. If this continues for a long time, it will cause malnutrition in the baby.

(4) Susceptible to infection

Since empty pacifiers are left anywhere, they are easily contaminated by bacteria, viruses, etc., and if they are not sterilized, babies can easily get infected with diseases after sucking them.

Some young parents often put empty pacifiers in their babies' mouths to stop them from crying or to make them fall asleep as soon as possible. In fact, there are some disadvantages in doing so. It will bring adverse consequences to the baby. Frequently letting the baby suck the pacifier empty may cause the following harms:
