How to disinfect a bathtub that has been used by others

We all know that when we stay in a hotel, although bed sheets and bathtubs are public facilities, there are a lot of bacteria after being used by many people, so we should do a good job of disinfection. To disinfect the bathtub, we should use disinfectant to clean it. You can add disinfectant 84 into the bathtub or add PP powder to cold water, or you can use white vinegar to soak it for disinfection.

How to disinfect a bathtub

After cleaning the bathtub, start disinfecting the bathtub. You can use the following disinfectants:

1. Bathtub disinfectant 84;

2. Put PP powder (potassium permanganate) in cold water until it turns light red, and soak for 20-30 minutes;

3. Scrub with 200 times diluted cleaning disinfectant, or wipe with 10% bleaching powder supernatant or 1% peracetic acid 3 times, leave it for 10-15 minutes, and then wash with detergent.

Before disinfecting the bathtub, you should first clean the bathtub. The specific methods are as follows:

1. Soak in vinegar: If you want to remove scale on the bathtub, walls and faucets, you can soak a rag in vinegar, then cover the stubborn scale and leave it overnight. The next morning, mix baking soda and vinegar into a paste, then use a toothbrush dipped in the paste to scrub the area to clean it.

2. Wipe with old newspaper: Wipe the bathtub with old newspaper to remove old dirt. You can also use a clean cloth or brush dipped in scouring powder to wipe it gently, then rinse with clean water.

3. Special cleaning agent. If you don’t mind the cost, you can use a special bathtub cleaner. It can not only effectively remove common soap scum and scale on the bathtub surface, but also has special effects on the difficult-to-remove old yellow scale in the machine. It saves time and effort and does not damage the bathtub surface. After using the above disinfectant to disinfect the bathtub, you should rinse the disinfectant off with tap water to prevent the disinfectant from remaining on the surface of the bathtub and affecting the bathtub.

Bathtub complex maintenance precautions

Gentle on surface stains

You can use a discarded soft-bristled toothbrush dipped in bleach water to scrub the surface, which can not only remove stains but also eliminate mold. If you encounter stains that are difficult to wipe off, you can also use half a lemon dipped in salt to rub it, or you can use a soft-bristled toothbrush coated with toothpaste with whitening function to scrub it. Turpentine is also very useful at this time. As for scale, the products used to clean toilets on a daily basis are very effective. If you don’t like the pungent smell, you can also use a more natural method such as lemon and white vinegar. Do not use cleaners that have discoloring properties, especially if your bathtub is colored. To deal with mold and bacteria that cause fungal diseases, rinse with bleach and peroxide water and wipe dry immediately.

Repair scars in time

Do not move the bathtub without permission after it is installed. If you need to move it, you must contact a professional. Do not hit or strike the surface with hard objects to cause bruises or scratches. If you need to repair dull or scratched parts of an acrylic bathtub, you can use a clean rag mixed with a colorless automatic polishing solution to wipe it vigorously, and then apply a layer of colorless protective wax. Do not wax the footing areas to prevent slipping.

Weekly cleaning

When cleaning an acrylic bathtub, use a sponge or flannel cloth. Do not use coarse cloth or scouring pad. Do not use any cleaning agents containing granular substances. It is best to avoid direct sunlight and contact with high-temperature cigarette butts. You can use mild detergents (such as dishwashing liquid) but avoid abrasive detergents.
