Purpose of arterial blood sampling

Purpose of arterial blood sampling

In order to cooperate with the treatment of some problems in life, many people choose effective treatment measures. The first common one is arterial blood sampling. The main purpose of arterial blood sampling is to carry out active rescue. This has always been a convenient and safe operation, avoiding some troubles and problems. During the collection process, we must have a correct understanding and knowledge of the patient's age, gender and psychological condition.

Abstract: In order to assist in the rescue of critically ill patients and correctly judge the patient's respiratory function, blood oxygen metabolism and blood acidity and alkalinity, arterial blood needs to be collected for blood gas analysis.

The radial artery is one of the preferred sites for collecting blood samples, as it is convenient and safe to operate. However, in some special cases, such as critically ill patients, different vascular conditions, and difficult positioning, in order to improve the success rate of puncture and relieve patients' pain, this paper reviews the common clinical methods of new radial artery blood sampling with high success rate based on the anatomical characteristics of the radial artery.

Arterial blood sampling is a common clinical procedure. It is also a difficult operation, how to collect radial artery blood samples quickly and effectively. And minimize the impact and harm to patients, the author continues to explore in clinical practice.

1 Health education before radial artery blood sampling

1. Education during collection

After careful analysis and evaluation of the patient's age, gender, psychological state, physical condition, type of illness and treatment, targeted admission education is adopted to let patients understand the hospital environment, attending physicians and nurses, and reduce their sense of unfamiliarity and fear. According to the patient's educational level and comprehension ability, explain the method and purpose of radial artery blood sampling, and guide the patient to correctly understand radial artery blood sampling. To reduce the negative emotions such as fear and anxiety during the operation, which will affect the success rate of puncture.

2 Psychological intervention during collection

Nurses should establish a good nurse-patient relationship with patients, listen carefully to what patients say, patiently answer their questions, be enthusiastic, sincere, caring and considerate to patients, and gain their high trust. For patients who undergo radial artery blood sampling for the first time, the purpose, method and possible consequences of radial artery blood sampling should be explained, but there is no need to overemphasize the consequences of radial artery blood sampling, so as not to cause tension and fear in the patient. Questions raised by patients should be answered clearly, and negative language should not be used to increase the patient's psychological burden.

For patients who have had severe pain reactions or failed radial artery blood sampling in the past, since the patients have a deep impression of the discomfort they once felt, they will experience fear due to the early symptoms of this radial artery blood sampling. Nurses should patiently provide psychological counseling, help patients analyze the reasons, give appropriate commitments, and use their skilled techniques and rich clinical work experience to minimize the reactions to radial artery blood sampling, thereby gaining the patient's trust and seeking their cooperation.
