The difference between heart rate and heart rhythm

The difference between heart rate and heart rhythm

Heart rate and heart rhythm are not exactly the same thing, but some people confuse the two. Heart rate refers to the number of heartbeats in a certain period of time, while heart rate refers to the rhythmic process of contraction and relaxation of the heart. The difference between the two is quite large. Whether it is heart rate or heart rhythm, as long as there is a problem with the heart, we must face it and find out the cause in time.

Many people mistakenly believe that heart rate and heart rhythm are the same. In fact, there is a difference between the two. Modern Chinese interprets heart rate as the frequency of heartbeats. Frequency is the number of times something happens per unit time. The two explanations combined mean the number of times the heart beats within a certain period of time, that is, how fast the heart beats within a certain period of time. Heart rate and heart rhythm are not the same thing. Let’s share this together today.

1. Heart rate: The average heart rate of a normal adult at rest is 70 to 80 beats per minute, generally not less than 60 beats per minute and not more than 100 beats per minute. However, there are differences due to differences in age, gender, physical fitness level, training level and physiological condition. For example, it is 130~150 times/minute for newborns, 110~120 times/minute for children aged 2~4 years old, and then decreases year by year.

2. Heart rhythm: Modern Chinese interprets heart rhythm as the rhythm of heartbeat. Rhythm is the rhythm and regularity of an object's movement. The two explanations combined are the rhythm and regularity of heartbeat, which is referred to as heart rate. It refers to the rhythmic and regular beating process of the heart at a certain frequency range during its contraction and relaxation. It includes two parts, namely the frequency of the heartbeat and the rhythm of the heartbeat. The frequency of heartbeat refers to the heart rate, that is, the number of times the heart beats per minute; and rhythm refers to the regularity or irregularity of the heartbeat, that is, the time interval between one heart beat and the next, with an error usually not exceeding 0.12 seconds.

3. The rhythm of the heartbeat. If we use popular terms, we can understand it as the rhythm of the heartbeat. It can be seen that compared with "heart rate", "heart rhythm" is a more comprehensive description of heartbeat, and the two cannot be confused. For example, we can say that the heart rate is too fast or too slow (referring to the number of heart beats per minute), and we can also say that the heart rhythm is irregular (referring to the inconsistent time intervals between each heart beat), but we cannot say that the heart rate is irregular. It can be seen that heart rate and heart rhythm are two concepts and cannot be used interchangeably.

Note:

Through the above understanding, do you have a certain understanding of the difference between heart rate and heart rhythm? In daily life, we should learn more about this common sense, which will help us in the future. At the same time, we should also pay attention to maintaining a good attitude and not let the heart be seriously affected by various factors.
