Why do you get neurodermatitis

Why do you get neurodermatitis

As we all know, skin diseases are very difficult to treat. Once you get the disease, like psoriasis, it is likely to be with you for life. Neurodermatitis is one of the skin diseases. It is caused by some mental factors, functional disorders and stimulation. The patient population is mainly concentrated in adults. After the disease, the skin will develop itching and lichenification, which is very easy to identify.

Neurodermatitis is also known as lichen simplex chronicus. It is a chronic skin disease characterized by paroxysmal skin itching and skin lichenification. It is a common skin disease, more common in adults, and generally not in children.

Causes

1. Mental factors

It is currently believed that the main cause of this disease is emotional fluctuations, excessive mental tension, anxiety, sudden changes in living environment, etc. can all aggravate the disease and cause it to recur.

2. Gastrointestinal dysfunction, endocrine system dysfunction, chronic lesion infection in the body, etc. may all be pathogenic factors.

3. Local stimulation

Friction caused by a hard collar, stimulation from chemical substances, insect bites, sunlight, scratching, etc. can all induce the occurrence of this disease.

Clinical manifestations

1. When the disease first occurs

There is only an itchy sensation, but no primary skin lesions. Due to scratching and friction, flat papules ranging in size from millet to mung bean gradually appear on the skin. They are round or polygonal, hard and shiny, light red or normal skin color, and scattered. Due to paroxysmal severe itching, patients often scratch, and the papules gradually increase in number. Over time, they merge into flakes, become thickened and lichenified, and are manifested by deepening of skin wrinkles and raised skin ridges. The skin lesions become dark brown, dry, and have fine desquamation. The patchy lesions have clear borders, and there may be small flat papules at the edges, which are scattered and isolated. The number of skin lesions is variable and they may be solitary or widespread, of varying sizes and shapes.

2. Neurodermatitis

It often occurs on both sides of the neck, nape, elbows, popliteal fossa, sacrum, wrists, ankles, and also on the lower back, eyelids, limbs and vulva. If the skin lesions are limited to one or a few areas, it is called localized neurodermatitis; if the skin lesions are widely distributed, even throughout the body, it is called generalized neurodermatitis.

3. Subjective symptoms

It is a paroxysmal severe itching, especially at night, which affects sleep. Scratching may leave blood marks and blood scabs, and in severe cases, folliculitis and lymphadenitis may occur.

4. This disease is a chronic disease with symptoms that vary in severity and are prone to relapse after recovery.

treat

The purpose of treatment is mainly to relieve itching and prevent patients from scratching due to itching, which will further aggravate the condition.

1. Systemic treatment

Antihistamines, calcium supplements, etc. can be used to relieve itching symptomatically, supplemented with oral vitamin B group; sedatives can be used for severe itching; for generalized rash, procaine intravenous blockade or combined use of tripterygium wilfordii drugs can be used.

2. Local treatment

You can choose to use glucocorticoid ointment, cream or solution for external use. For those with hypertrophy, you can seal the area or use 10% black bean distilled oil ointment for external use. Refractory skin lesions can be treated with local intralesional injection of triamcinolone acetonide injection.
