What to do if the oral mucosa falls off

What to do if the oral mucosa falls off

Some patients who have suffered from oral diseases understand that it is particularly torturous. Pain is one aspect. It is uncomfortable to eat with the mouth open, and it is difficult to swallow water with the mouth closed. It also hurts to talk and sleep. There is no way to deal with it. Once it becomes serious, it will cause oral mucosal shedding, which is mainly manifested in oral erosion, including the throat, tongue, upper and lower lips, gums and other parts. Timely treatment is required to avoid aggravating the condition and causing serious consequences. So what should you do if oral mucosal shedding occurs?

reason

Patients must be careful about other oral diseases that may cause oral mucosal shedding. For example, if the residual roots and crowns left in the mouth after the tooth is destroyed by caries, long-term friction will cause traumatic ulcers of the mucosa. In addition, ill-fitting dentures or dentures that are out of repair can also cause the oral mucosa to fall off.

examine

The common symptom of these oral mucosal exfoliative diseases is extensive erosion of the oral mucosa, including the cheeks, tongue, palate, gums, floor of mouth, and upper and lower lips. The patient first experiences oral oozing, followed by a yellow pseudomembrane. When the exudate is too much, it will form a jelly-like mass and affect oral movement. The patient cannot eat with his mouth open, and cannot swallow water with his mouth closed. Some patients may also develop acute inflammation, blisters, erythema and erosion of other mucous membranes such as the eyes or vulva.

Differential Diagnosis

Differential diagnosis of oral mucosal sloughing:

1. Oral mucosal ulcers: also known as mouth sores, are superficial ulcers that occur on the oral mucosa. The size can range from rice grains to soybeans, and can be round or oval. The ulcer surface is concave and surrounded by congestion. It can cause pain due to irritating foods and can usually heal itself in one to two weeks.

2. Oral mucosal fibrosis: Oral mucosal fibrosis is a collagen disorder that invades the submucosal layer and often severely restricts mouth opening movement.

Mitigation methods

Correct bad living habits, smoke less, drink less, do not use antibiotics at will, do not use inferior or unsuitable lipstick, and do not blindly get lip tattoos. Avoid factors that may cause allergic reactions. Change the habit of biting lips and tongue to avoid trauma to the oral mucosa. Eat more fresh vegetables and fruits and protein-rich foods, and less sour, spicy, astringent, hot and fried foods.
