Redness and swelling after shaving

Redness and swelling after shaving

Many men consider beards to be a sign of manliness. However, growing a beard can make a person look very slovenly. Therefore, men with beards have to shave frequently. There are many tools for shaving, some use manual razors and some use electric razors. The choice of shaving tools is entirely based on personal preference. Why do some people's beards become red and swollen after shaving?

Causes of redness and swelling after shaving

1. The problem is with the quality of the razor. If it is an electric razor, it may be that you are shaving for too long or too close to the skin. If it is a manual razor, it may be that there is no shaving foam, or it may be that you are shaving too close to the skin. Keep a proper distance between the blade and the skin.

2. After shaving, you can apply some aftershave or toner to relieve such symptoms.

Three times are not suitable for shaving

1. Get up in the morning

Some people may wonder, morning is the best time to shave! In fact, you shouldn't rush to shave in the morning.

This is mainly because when people just wake up, after a night of rest and recuperation, their reproductive function is vigorous and the growth rate of beard will also accelerate. If you shave immediately now, you might grow new stubble by the afternoon.

The correct way is to shave 20 minutes to half an hour after getting up. At this time, the secretion of male hormones in the male body is relatively stable and the growth rate of the beard slows down. If you shave at this time, you can keep your face clean all day.

2. Before taking a bath

Many men like to shave before taking a shower, but this is actually not a good idea.

There will be some micro-injuries on the skin after shaving, some of which are invisible to the naked eye. If you take a shower immediately, the stimulation of shampoo, shower gel and hot water may cause discomfort in the shaved area, or even redness and stinging.

3. After exercise

In addition, avoid shaving after exercise because the body sweats a lot at this time and it is easy to feel a burning sensation when shaving.

The correct way to shave

1. Before shaving, wash your face with neutral soap to prevent dirt and dust from entering the skin during shaving and causing skin infection.

2. After washing your face, apply a hot towel to your beard or apply a beard softener to soften it.

3. After a while, apply shaving cream to reduce irritation to the skin.

4. Keep your skin taut when shaving to reduce the resistance of the razor on the skin and prevent breaking the skin.
