Clinically, there are many types of diseases. Some diseases, in addition to being discovered through symptoms, also require some professional medical examinations. Pathological section is also a kind of clinical examination method. Many people have some misunderstandings about pathological sections, and there are many things to pay attention to before and after doing pathological sections. So how should pathological sections be done? 1. Pathological sections Pathological section is a diagnostic method in which a part of the diseased area is surgically removed and then the tissue lesions are observed under a microscope. It is the definite basis for diagnosis and is also known as the "gold standard". There are still some differences between pathological sections and biopsies. Biopsy is the direct examination of the removed tissue under a microscope, while pathological sectioning is the removal of tissue that has been processed and fixed before being examined under a microscope, allowing for a more detailed observation. It takes time to prepare pathological sections, so please be patient. The rapid sections taken during surgery are limited, but the results of the sections taken are correct. Postoperative pathological sections will be taken from multiple points, and the examination of the entire specimen will be more thorough, so the accuracy will be higher. 2. A type of pathological specimen. During the production process, some diseased tissues or organs are treated with various chemicals and burying methods to fix and harden them. They are then cut into thin slices on a microtome, adhered to glass slides, and stained with various colors for examination under a microscope to observe pathological changes and make pathological diagnoses, thereby providing assistance for clinical diagnosis and treatment. 3. Note The fresher the tissue, the better. Human tissue is generally fixed quickly after being removed from the body, and animal tissue is fixed quickly after being killed to ensure its original morphological structure. The ideal volume of the tissue block is 2.0cm×2.0cm×0.3cm, so that the fixative can quickly and evenly penetrate into the tissue. However, the ideal volume of the tissue block varies depending on the material and purpose of the preparation. For example, for pathological examinations and scientific research sections, the tissue block can be as thin as 0.1 to 0.2 cm. |
