Which part is the sacrum

Which part is the sacrum

The human body can be supported only by the existence of bones, so bones play an important role in the human body. Moreover, the names of the bones in every part of the human body are different, and they play different functions. Among them, the sacrum is a relatively important skeletal part of the human body because it directly connects the upper and lower body. But where exactly is the sacrum located in the human body?

1 Lumbar sacral position

The lumbar sacral region refers to the spine at the level of the upper edge of the buttocks and all the vertebrae below it, including five lumbar vertebrae, one sacrum and coccyx. It is the middle part of the spine, below the belt.

2 Causes of lumbar pain in women

1. Abnormal contraceptive ring. Some women’s lumbar pain is often caused by abnormal contraceptive ring. Abnormalities of the IUD include the IUD model not matching the vaginal cavity, the IUD being too elastic or the IUD being abnormally positioned. Due to the above reasons, the IUD becomes lodged in the uterine cavity, stimulating the uterine wall and causing reflex pain in the lumbar sacral region. In this case, the IUD can be removed, especially for women who have already reached menopause, the IUD should be removed in a timely manner.

2. Genital inflammation Lumbar pain often worsens after excessive fatigue, sexual intercourse, and before and after menstruation. Patients often feel systemic symptoms such as back pain, lower abdominal discomfort or bloating, low fever, fatigue, and loss of appetite.

3. Pelvic tumors such as uterine fibroids, cervical cancer, ovarian tumors and other diseases. Because early tumors are deep in the pelvic cavity and difficult to detect, when the tumor compresses the nerves or cancer cells invade the connective tissue of the pelvic cavity, lumbar pain may occur.

4. Abnormal position of the uterus. The normal position of the uterus is slightly forward-flexed, and the surrounding ligaments function freely. When the uterus is retroflexed or tilted, adhesions will form due to inflammation of the uterus and surrounding areas, causing tractional lumbosacral pain. This condition often occurs after frequent abortions, multiple births or other uterine surgeries. Uterine prolapse, prolapse, or high adhesions in the abdominal cavity can pull on the ligaments and cause lumbar pain.

3 Causes of lumbar pain in men

1. The most common cause of soft tissue diseases around the spine is lumbar muscle injury or ligament strain. Improper posture when lifting heavy objects, obesity, strenuous exercise, etc. can all lead to muscle and ligament damage. Frequently carrying a heavy backpack and sleeping in an improper position for a long time can also cause low back pain.

2. It is caused by diseases of internal organs such as nephritis, urinary tract infection, urinary tract stones, cholecystitis, gallstones, pancreatitis, gastric and duodenal bulb ulcers, prostatitis, etc. Tumors can also cause lumbar pain.

3. Patients with hysteria caused by mental factors may also complain of low back pain, but there are no objective signs, or the objective examination and subjective description cannot be explained by physiological anatomy and pathological knowledge. This kind of low back pain is often a manifestation of hysteria.

4. Caused by spinal diseases such as rheumatoid spondylitis, bone hyperplasia, tuberculous spondylitis, spinal trauma and intervertebral disc herniation.

4 Treatment of lumbosacral pain

1. Timely and clear diagnosis of lumbar strain. The main symptoms are soreness and pain in the waist or lumbar sacral region, which recurs repeatedly. The soreness and pain may vary with climate changes or the degree of fatigue, and may be mild or severe at times and linger. There may be widespread tenderness in the lower back, and there is usually no abnormality in spinal movement.

If you find a similar situation, you should seek medical attention in time, make a clear diagnosis, rule out other possible factors, and conduct a careful examination to prevent missed diagnosis and delay in the disease. It is recommended to go to the orthopedic surgery or pain department of the hospital.

2. The key to comprehensive treatment is to dredge the meridians and activate the collaterals, promote effective blood circulation in the waist muscles, and increase the saturation of blood oxygen exchange, so as to truly strengthen the waist muscles and restore the protective function of the waist muscles and surrounding ligaments on the lumbar spine. The specific treatment method requires first determining the cause and then treating it under the guidance of a doctor.

3. Timely functional training and post-rehabilitation health care

(1) During the acute phase, patients should rest in bed for 1 to 3 weeks. Generally, patients should lie on their backs on a hard bed with their knees slightly bent to increase the lumbosacral angle, relieve pain, and reduce tissue edema.

(2) Local blockade, physical therapy, massage and functional exercise can be performed. Those with severe pain can take antispasmodics and analgesics such as ibuprofen, indomethacin, and voltaren.

Chronic strain injuries are more difficult to treat and the results are less effective. In addition to physical therapy, massage and local blockade, a wider lumbar belt or waist belt can be used to protect the lumbar region and support the lumbar muscles.

(3) Strengthen the functional training of the waist, back and abdominal muscles to enhance muscle strength, improve body posture, and enhance compensatory ability, which is conducive to early recovery.

Manual massage can loosen adhesions, and external application of Chinese herbal medicine has the effects of relaxing muscles and tendons, activating blood circulation, reducing swelling and relieving pain, and can be used as appropriate.
