What's wrong with the pain in the pectoralis major

Pectoralis major pain is mainly caused by excessive tension and fatigue of the pectoralis major muscle, coupled with cervical spondylosis, chest inflammation, and soft tissue injury. It is mostly related to bacterial infection. It is necessary to find the cause of the disease, and then perform massage and appropriate counseling. If there is a hidden disease or inflammation, it must be treated under the guidance of a doctor.

reason

Tension and strain of the pectoralis major muscle, lesions of the cervical spine, chest inflammation, soft tissue damage, etc.

examine

If aseptic inflammatory lesions occur at the attachment of the pectoralis major muscle, localized pain will occur, and it will be transmitted downward to cause pectoralis major pain or breast pain. It may be caused by sitting for a long time without exercise, but it may also be caused by poor sitting posture and cervical extension, which causes tension in the muscles at the back and sides of the neck, such as the sternocleidomastoid and trapezius muscles, thereby tensing the pectoralis major muscle and causing pain in the pectoralis major muscle.

In unilateral cases with extremely severe extraspinal soft tissue damage, pectoralis major pain or breast pain may be induced downward, or the pain may be transmitted along the abdominal wall to the inner thigh, causing a tight and throbbing feeling, with the abdominal wall appearing as cords during the throbbing. In bilateral cases, anterior chest pain, chest tightness, shortness of breath and other anterior chest symptoms may also be induced downward. Nerve nerve pain lesions often cause tenderness in the cervical spinous process, the upper medial angle of the scapula on the affected side, and the pectoralis major area.

Examination method: The examiner uses the tip of the thumb to slide and press along the attachment points of the two muscles in front of the inner 1/2 section of the clavicle and the outer 1/3 section of the clavicle to find the tender points in the two places respectively.

Differential Diagnosis

Differential diagnosis of pectoralis major pain:

1. Chest pain: Chest pain is a common symptom in emergency departments, usually caused by chest diseases. The severity of chest pain may not be exactly related to the cause of the chest pain. For example, herpes zoster can cause severe chest pain, while the chest pain of acute myocardial infarction is sometimes not very serious.

2. Chest wall pain: Chest wall pain (chest wall pain) is also called musculoskeletal pain (musculoskeletal pain).

feature

●The pain is concentrated in one point and the patient can point it out clearly.

●The pain does not last long, usually only one or two seconds each time, and there is a chance of recurrence.

●The patient experiences stabbing or even severe pain in the chest when taking a deep breath, coughing, sneezing or turning around.

●The pain may be more severe than chest pain caused by other diseases, but most cases improve within a few days to two or three weeks.
