Life Tips: Something got stuck in your eyes

In daily life, it is inevitable that something will get into the eyes, such as small flies or other foreign objects. At this time, people often rub their eyes with their hands constantly as a conditioned reflex. Some foreign objects can be easily rubbed out, but sometimes it is not suitable to rub them out with your hands, as this will make the foreign objects in the eye adhere more tightly to the eyeball, causing redness, swelling or even inflammation of the eyes. In fact, when foreign objects enter the eyes, there are many tricks to remove them.

1. Tips on what to do if a foreign object enters your eye

1. Close your eyes and pull your eyelids

If the objects that enter the eyes are only attached to the surface of the eyes, just close your eyes gently for a while, then pull up your eyelids with your hands, and the foreign objects attached to the surface of the eyes will usually flow out with the tears.

2. Flip your eyelids

If the foreign body in the eye is not discharged by itself through tears and you feel pain when touched, the foreign body is likely on the conjunctiva of the upper eyelid. At this time, you can turn the eyelid over to find the foreign body, and then use a cotton swab soaked in disinfection or a clean handkerchief to gently wipe off the foreign body, and the pain will disappear.

3. Cry it out

Generally, when something gets into our eyes, the first thing we can do is to make our eyes cry through various methods so that the foreign body can be discharged through the tears. Yawning is undoubtedly the simplest way. As long as we lower our head, open our mouth wide, take a deep breath and yawn, tears will naturally flow from our eyes. Another method is to cough with your eyes closed, which can also make your eyes tear up and expel foreign matter.

4. Rinse

You can rinse with tap water or saline. If you happen to have eye drops, it is best to rinse your eyes with them to let the foreign matter out with the eye drops. Eye drops can not only reduce inflammation and moisturize the symptoms of dry eyes, but also help disinfect the eyes where foreign matter has entered.

1. Blowing eyes

If something gets into your eyes, you can ask a companion to help blow it out. You can also try blowing it with a hair dryer.

7. Find water for washing

Find clean water to rinse your eyes as soon as possible. If you are at home, you can get a basin of water, put your face in the water and blink your eyes continuously. Foreign matter may flow out with the water.

8. Wipe with cotton swab

Look in the mirror, roll your eyeballs, try to move the contents of your eyes to the tear ducts or corners of your eyes, and gently wipe them off with a cotton swab. Or if you can flip your eyelids, you can move the foreign body to the upper eyelid, flip up the eyelid, and gently wipe it off with a cotton swab.

Doctors can usually help you remove it using professional health techniques.

2. Tips

Ophthalmologists remind that if there is a foreign object in the eye, do not rub the eye with your hands. Many people subconsciously rub their eyes with their hands when something gets into the eye. It is recommended that you wear glasses or other things to cover your eyes when going out in windy and dusty weather. Sometimes the foreign body is removed, but the eyes are still sore, dry and red. This is probably an infection. It is recommended that you buy a bottle of anti-inflammatory eye medicine. If something gets into your eye and cannot be taken out, it is recommended that you go to the hospital and the doctor will help you take it out. Do not rub your eyes deliberately, otherwise it will easily cause redness and swelling of the eyes, inflammation, and even cause other diseases.
