I can't open my mouth after having my wisdom teeth removed

Wisdom teeth are an important part of people's oral cavity, but they are also the part of teeth with the highest probability of disease. They have a great impact on people's health. Wisdom teeth are prone to inflammation, which can cause swollen and painful gums and other problems. Therefore, removing bad wisdom teeth is one of the choices for many people. However, other problems can easily arise during the process of removing wisdom teeth. For example, what should I do if I can't open my mouth after removing wisdom teeth?

There are many reasons why you can't open your mouth. The main reasons may be joint problems, or interstitial infection caused by an infection source in the oral cavity. It is also possible that there may be temporomandibular joint disorder and lesions in the joint area. The source of infection in the oral cavity may be space infection caused by Achilles tendonitis, periodontitis and pericoronitis of wisdom teeth, resulting in limited mouth opening.

The disease is mainly treated conservatively and no medication is needed. The main thing is to eliminate the cause of the disease. Please refer to my article, find out the cause and try to overcome it. The disease is difficult to cure, but as long as the cause is controlled and combined with mild physical therapy and other measures, the symptoms can be controlled without affecting normal life.

Temporomandibular arthritis refers to a syndrome of symptoms such as pain and movement disorders caused by dysfunction or structural damage of the temporomandibular joint. At present, the cause and pathogenesis of this disease are not fully understood, and there is still a lack of radical cure for it. The main thing is to treat the symptoms, find out the primary disease, control the primary disease, avoid opening the mouth too wide, avoid eating too hard food, and consider blockage when the pain is severe.

Mitigation methods:

1. Develop good chewing habits and avoid chewing on one side.

2. During the acute phase of pain, do not eat hard nuts or foods that require the teeth and jaw to bite hard! Liquid or semi-liquid food is preferred.

3. Take diclofenac sodium enteric-coated sustained-release capsules, aminoglucose sulfate and Shenjindan orally; if the swelling and pain symptoms are obvious, take anti-inflammatory drugs such as roxithromycin tablets orally at the same time.

4. Hot compress, physical therapy, and acupuncture on the temporomandibular joint; intra-articular injection of prednisolone acetate for treatment.
