Importance of First Aid

Importance of First Aid

In our lives, many diseases actually occur suddenly. Even many accidents will occur suddenly, leaving us no time to prepare. At this time, in order to help patients extend the rescue time, first aid measures are very important. If everyone can master some first aid methods, it will provide an additional guarantee for rescue. So, do you know the importance or method of first aid?

Importance of first aid knowledge

Everyone is related to "first aid" because everyone is bound to encounter some critical situations or even accidental injuries. Even if you are not injured by illness, you may sometimes encounter tense and sudden situations in your work and life environment, or when traveling or on business trips, and you may need to lend a helping hand. Therefore, learning some first aid knowledge is really important and meaningful.

Not only can they learn common first aid knowledge, but they can also master basic first aid skills and simple daily care methods. So that in case of any unexpected event, we can use our love to save lives and heal the wounded and implement effective first aid methods. "Saving a life is better than building a seven-story pagoda" may be reflected here.

The basics of cardiopulmonary resuscitation

The most basic purpose of first aid is to save lives, but what threatens life in an instant is the sudden arrest of heartbeat and breathing. There are many reasons that can cause cardiac and respiratory arrest, but in daily life, the most common is sudden death from cardiac emergencies, and other emergencies include electric shock, drowning, poisoning, etc.

The method to save people from cardiac and respiratory arrest is cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

The importance of pupillary response

The pupil of the eye, also known as the "iris", is located in the center of the black eyeball. Under normal circumstances, the pupils of both eyes are equal in size and round (except in cases of cataracts, glaucoma, and keratitis). They will shrink rapidly when exposed to strong light (you can observe the reaction of the pupil by suddenly shining a flashlight on the pupil) and then gradually return to their original shape after a few minutes.

When the patient suffers from brain injury, cerebral hemorrhage, or severe drug poisoning, the pupil may shrink to the size of a pinpoint, or it may expand to the edge of the black eyeball and fail to respond to light or respond slowly. Sometimes, cerebral edema or brain herniation may cause one pupil to be larger than the other. Changes in pupils indicate the severity of brain lesions. During emergency treatment, doctors often observe pupil changes because they can tell whether the condition is improving or worsening.

The patient's pupils gradually dilated, became fixed, and lost their light reflex, indicating that the patient had fallen into a "clinical state of death."

Generally, if a patient's heart stops beating for more than 6 minutes, the hope of saving him is very slim.
