Why do clothes smell when you sweat?

In the hot summer, our bodies sweat easily, and sweating easily produces sweat odor. However, sometimes after sweating, we find that our clothes have a sour and smelly smell. However, some clothes have no odor even after being worn for several days, and some clothes still have a odor even if they are changed every day and soaked with a lot of gold spinning. So why do clothes smell when sweating?

Natural fibers have relatively good moisture absorption, which means that there is a large amount of dried sweat on the clothes, which includes not only the water and inorganic salts in the sweat, but also the dandruff and black oil from human metabolism. These things stay in the clothes and emit a bad smell.

On the contrary, the hygroscopicity of chemical fibers is much lower, and the moisture regain rate can be about 20 times lower than that of natural fibers. The sweat that stays on the chemical fiber will also evaporate naturally. There will be less stuff in the clothes, so naturally there will be no strong odor.

Although chemical fibers have poor moisture absorption, they are not as soft and comfortable to the touch. If they are worn as clothing, you can choose blended fabrics that combine the advantages of natural fibers and chemical fibers. That is to say, it maintains the wearing comfort and is not easy to produce odor.

Although clothes will have an odor after sweating, you still need to wash them regularly because in addition to sweat, clothes also contain oil and dandruff, which are also harmful to the skin and body.

Reasons why washed clothes stink:

The high temperature in summer makes it easy for bacteria to multiply rapidly, and bacteria need a water environment to multiply.

Moreover, the phosphorus element in washing powder also provides good living conditions for bacteria. Bacteria will produce some metabolites when growing in the water environment of wet clothes. The metabolites have odor, so the clothes smell.

Washed clothes need sufficient air circulation, especially on cloudy and cold days. Hanging clothes too crowded will affect air circulation, thus creating a bad smell.

If the washed clothes still smell, scald them in relatively hot water and soak them for a few minutes. After the season changes, clothes should be cleaned, rinsed, and dried thoroughly. When folding, use your hands to block the air inside. You should also put some desiccant or cockroach brain pills (cockroach brain pills) in it and be sure to wrap them tightly with several layers of paper towels. Finally, put a clean film bag on the outside of the clothes. This way, when you take it out and wear it again in the winter of the following year, it won't smell bad.
