Is the ceramic casserole poisonous?

Soups cooked in ceramic casseroles taste more delicious because ceramic casseroles have better air permeability, so the delicious taste of the ingredients in the soup can be effectively brought out during the stewing process. However, general ceramic casseroles need to go through the glazing process, which makes the appearance of the ceramic casserole more beautiful. Therefore, many people are worried about whether using ceramic casseroles to stew soup will produce toxins.

Ceramic electric stew pots are non-toxic because they are made of clay that has been fired at high temperatures. As long as the clay is not collected from areas with high heavy metal content or high radiation, there is no problem. However, some ceramics need to be colored before firing. Generally, the coloring raw materials are chemical raw materials, which are somewhat unsafe. It is best to buy white ceramics.

Some ceramic utensils are harmful to human health because they are decorated with overglaze colors. Overglaze colors contain metals such as lead that have certain harmful effects. When the human body ingests a certain amount of lead, symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, and abdominal pain will occur. Lead can affect the functions of human hematopoiesis, nerves, kidneys, blood vessels and other organs. Therefore, the following issues should be noted when using ceramic utensils:

1. When choosing ceramic tableware, do not choose those with overglaze decoration, especially the inner wall of ceramic tableware should not be painted. You can choose to use underglaze or in-glaze colors for decoration. For example, blue and white is a type of ceramic that people like to decorate with underglaze colors.

2. After you buy ceramic tableware, soak and boil it in water containing 4% vinegar first. This will remove most of the toxic substances and greatly reduce the potential harm of ceramic tableware to the human body.

3. Do not use ceramic tableware to store acidic foods and beverages such as juice, wine, coffee, etc. for a long time. Because the longer the ceramic tableware holds acidic food or beverages and the higher the temperature, the easier it is for lead to dissolve, which increases the toxic side effects of lead dissolution.
