Tonsillar polyps, also known as vocal cord polyps, are an oral disease that is common among people of all ages. The occurrence of tonsil polyps can cause great pain in the patient's life, which is manifested in itching, blockage, throat discomfort, etc. So what is the cause of tonsil polyps? How can we take effective measures to treat it in daily life?

Laryngeal polyps are a common disease in adults and can also be seen in children. They are usually called vocal cord polyps. Generally, vocal cord nodules in children do not need to be treated for the time being, but nodules or polyps in adults usually require surgery to treat. Symptoms of laryngeal polyps generally include discomfort in the throat, a foreign body sensation, a constant feeling that there is something in the throat that cannot be swallowed or spit out, irritating coughing, dryness, swelling, blockage, itching, etc., but rarely sore throat. Frequent spitting out of thick phlegm in the early morning can easily cause nausea.

After the operation, you should generally keep silent and can do nebulization treatment. At the same time, pay attention to the pronunciation method and avoid excessive vocalization to prevent recurrence. Examination of throat polyps may cause hoarseness. Laryngoscopy or biopsy can confirm the diagnosis and rule out cancerous growths. Can

Surgery can be used to remove the polyp and restore the voice. The underlying cause should be removed to prevent recurrence. If you use your voice improperly, you should undergo voice training. Vocal cord polyps are translucent fleshy growths that occur unilaterally or bilaterally in the anterior and middle 1/3 of the vocal cords. Symptoms include hoarseness and a low and monotonous voice. Large polyps can cause laryngeal wheezing and difficulty breathing.

Causes

Laryngeal polyps are mostly caused by improper or excessive vocalization, or they can be caused by a strong vocalization. Therefore, this disease is more common in patients who use their voice occupationally or excessively, and can also be secondary to upper respiratory tract infection. Various causes of chronic laryngitis can cause

Throat polyps, especially long-term excessive or improper use of the voice, are extremely important triggering factors. It is also often secondary to upper respiratory tract infection. Tobacco, alcohol, endocrine disorders and allergies are also related to this disease.

Treatment recommendations

The doctor should provide targeted treatment based on the cause of the disease. For local symptomatic treatment, you can use Chinese patent medicines, such as Liyanling, Coral Grass lozenges, Baoan Powder, etc., and take them together with tea: equal parts of Shuanghua, Ophiopogon japonicus, Sterculia lychnophora, and raw licorice, brew with boiling water and take frequently. Qingyan Drink: 50 grams each of black plum meat, raw licorice, Adenophora Root, Ophiopogon japonicus, Platycodon grandiflorum, and Radix Rehmanniae, mash and mix evenly, take 3 times a day, about 15 grams each time, and drink with boiling water.

Precautions

Pay attention to oral hygiene and brush your teeth every morning, evening and after meals. Reduce the stimulation of tobacco, alcohol and dust, and correct the bad habit of mouth breathing. You should strengthen your physical exercise, improve your physical fitness, prevent respiratory infections, use less tobacco and alcohol, and actively treat diseases of the organs around the pharynx. Arrange your life reasonably, keep a good mood and avoid worries and depression. Maintain appropriate indoor temperature and humidity and fresh air. It is advisable to eat light, sour, sweet and yin-nourishing foods, such as fruits, fresh vegetables, and green fruits. Regularly take Four Seasons Throat Lotions, Mint Throat Tablets, etc.

Traditional Chinese medicine classifies this disease into three categories:

1. Yin deficiency and fire inflammation type: discomfort in the throat, dull pain, foreign body sensation, small amount of sticky sputum, accompanied by afternoon fever, soreness of waist and legs, red tongue, and fine pulse.

2. Phlegm-blocking and blood-stasis type: dry and astringent throat, stabbing pain, deep red pharyngeal musculature, and nausea and discomfort often caused by frequent throat clearing. The tongue is red, the tongue coating is yellow and greasy, and the pulse is slippery and rapid.

3. Yin deficiency and dryness of body fluid type: dry and itchy throat, burning and dry pain, the pain may be temporarily relieved after drinking water, there is an obvious foreign body sensation, frequent dreams at night, tinnitus and dizziness. The tongue is red with little fluid, and the pulse is thready and rapid.

Diagnosis of vocal cord polyps

1. Generally speaking, people who work in professions that require a lot of vocalization, such as teachers, actors, and salespeople, are more likely to suffer from pharyngeal polyps [1]. The main cause of the disease is repeated attacks of acute laryngeal aphonia that turns into a chronic condition, which is also caused by long-term excessive voice production.

2. Throat polyps will cause long-term hoarseness and dry and uncomfortable throat as the main symptoms. It is often accompanied by cough and sputum.

3. Throat polyps usually have a long course of disease, and hoarseness is sometimes mild and sometimes severe.

These can all be used to determine whether there are vocal cord polyps, but they are not absolute. Of course, it is more accurate to go to the hospital for examination to avoid misdiagnosis.

From the perspective of age, vocal cord polyps are more common in young and middle-aged people because they use their voice relatively more. Vocal cord nodules are more common in children.
