What is the reason for self-harm when angry

For most people living in this world, not everything goes as they wish, so when bad things happen around them, it is very easy to feel frustrated or angry. Anger is an emotional expression in which the human body experiences great emotional fluctuations. Most people are fine after getting angry, but some people engage in self-harming behaviors when they are angry. So what causes self-harm when angry?

Self-harm is a form of revenge against oneself. When you have a bad temper and cannot vent it, you have to release it yourself. In fact, while you are angry at others, you will feel even more disgusted with yourself for losing your temper. Over time, you will feel dissatisfied with yourself. Therefore, hurting yourself is, in a way, a psychological suggestion. At the same time, the pain will divert your attention away from the things that make you angry. It will be more comfortable. So the so-called comfort is just a relief from another kind of pain.

An American sociologist once said in his book "Anger, the Misunderstood Emotion": "Anger is not an innate emotion or behavior, but something learned. People decide whether to be angry or not." That is to say, people can control their anger. This is why some people are furious about the same thing, while others don't take it seriously at all. Therefore, as long as you understand that being angry is being hard on yourself and is self-abuse, you will not often let yourself get “angry to death”.

It’s easy not to be angry. First of all, you need to adjust your thinking and remind yourself that you don’t have to think that way. Everything has its pros and cons. Just think about the good side. Also, try to delay your anger. Try it. After 15 seconds, explode in your usual way. Next time, delay for 30 seconds, and keep lengthening the time. Once you see that you can delay your anger, you have learned to control it. Delaying is controlling, and with more practice, you can eventually eliminate it completely.

Secondly, when you are angry, remind yourself that everyone has the right to be whoever he wants to be. If you ask others not to be like that, you are only asking for trouble. And when you are angry, get close to the people you love and find love in them to neutralize your hostility. Another dumbest way is to keep an "anger diary" and write down the time, place and things that make you angry. You’ll soon find that if you’re often angry, the hassle of keeping an anger diary will force you to be less angry.
