Is it normal for both noses to bleed at the same time

Many times, people experience nose bleeding, which is caused by ruptured capillaries in the nose. There are many reasons for the rupture of capillaries. Some people have nosebleeds due to getting angry, some people have nosebleeds because their noses are hit and their capillaries are broken. Some people have heart diseases which can also cause nosebleeds. Let's find out if it is normal for both noses to bleed at the same time.

1. The psychology of nosebleeds

Nursing should target patients' nervousness, stabilize their emotions, and use kind and friendly words to comfort them and eliminate their nervousness and fear. Avoid patients from worrying or becoming overly nervous which may lead to increased blood pressure and aggravated bleeding. Assist patients to wash their faces and feet, perform oral care, and eliminate loneliness.

2. Observation of the condition of epistaxis

1. Local observation: Whether it is cauterization or packing to stop bleeding, the patient must be observed for local bleeding. Sometimes the patient's anterior nostril is packed and the bleeding flows into the mouth through the posterior nostril. Sometimes after one side is packed, there is still bleeding on the other side. Sometimes the bleeding point is not clear, so careful observation is required.

2. Observation of the overall condition: Pay attention to changes in the overall condition. For example, if there is heavy bleeding, there will be a drop in blood pressure, thin pulse, pale complexion, cold sweats, irritability, thirst, etc. Tip: In the early stages of shock, fluids should be replenished immediately and the infusion rate should be accelerated. For patients with a history of hypertension, pay attention to changes in blood pressure to prevent accidents. Pay attention to the patient's rest. After local packing, the patient will have a headache, which affects the rest. Sedatives and hypnotics can be given to ensure the patient's sleep and prevent the patient from anxiety. At the same time, observe whether the patient has tinnitus and sore throat. If these symptoms occur, it may be considered that the nasal packing time is too long, the embolus expands, and compresses the local area.

3. Care for nosebleeds

The temperature and humidity in the ward should be appropriate to avoid bleeding caused by dryness. Chlorhexidine mixture and peppermint paraffin oil can be dripped into the nasal cavity to keep the nasal mucosa moist.

Oral care: Rinse your mouth to prevent bad odor and bacterial growth in the mouth after bleeding.

Diet care: Patients with nasal packing have certain difficulties in swallowing meals. They should be encouraged to eat more high-protein, high-vitamin, and blood-enriching foods and avoid eating foods that cause inflammation. Keep bowel movements smooth to prevent further bleeding due to increased pressure caused by constipation.

Be gentle when filling and removing gauze strips to avoid damaging the mucosa and causing new bleeding due to rough movements.

4. Health guidance

Take effective preventive measures, such as surgery for nasal diseases, and keep the room dry to improve the temperature and humidity in the room. Hypertension and arteriosclerosis are the main causes of nosebleeds in middle-aged and elderly people. The elasticity of blood vessels becomes reduced due to hardening, making them prone to rupture when blood pressure rises temporarily or persistently. Also, due to the poor ability of blood vessels to contract, bleeding does not stop. Therefore, it is necessary to prevent the patient from experiencing mood swings. Excessive excitement and sadness can increase the patient's blood pressure. When taking antihypertensive drugs, measure blood pressure daily and observe its fluctuations. Sudden changes in the environment and air pressure can also cause a temporary increase in blood pressure. Therefore, patients should pay attention to weather changes when going out, and take measures if the weather is too cold or too hot. Be extra careful when flying to avoid increased air pressure and increased tension on blood vessel walls which may cause bleeding.
