In fact, there are many ways to cook chestnuts. In addition to frying, boiling chestnuts can also make delicious chestnuts. There are many ways, and we can learn about some of the more distinctive methods. So, what are some tips for boiling chestnuts? Let’s take a look below.

The time taken to cook chestnuts in different pots is different:

1. Ordinary boiling method

Boil chestnuts in water, usually for about 20 minutes.

Preparation method: 1000g chestnuts and appropriate amount of water. Put it in the pot and add enough water to cover the chestnut flour. To boil chestnuts in cold water, bring to a boil over high heat. After about 15 minutes, switch to low heat and simmer for a few more minutes. Cook until the chestnuts are cooked, turn off the heat and simmer for a while. As the saying goes: "70% done, 30% covered" is exactly this principle. It not only saves fire, but also makes the food softer.

2. Pressure cooker cooking method

Put the chestnuts in the pressure cooker, not too many, add a little water, and cook for about 30-40 minutes.

Preparation method: 1000g chestnuts and appropriate amount of water. Wash the chestnuts and put them into the inner pot of the electric pressure cooker. Add water, select the universal stew function, and set the time to 35 minutes. Then open the lid and eat.

How to quickly peel boiled chestnuts

1. Before boiling, use a knife to make a cross. Be careful when using the knife. After boiling, the chestnut skin will expand and be easier to peel.

2. After boiling, pour into cold water while it is still hot. Do not boil for too long, about 10 to 20 seconds, then pick up the chestnuts. The chestnut skin will shrink and will be easier to peel.

3. Similarly, you can also put it in the refrigerator for quick freezing after boiling. It will have a different flavor when eaten frozen.

How to cook chestnuts at home

Choosing chestnuts: There are two main types of chestnuts, one is called hairy chestnut, which has many fine hairs on the shell, and the other is called bright chestnut, which looks shiny. Generally, hairy chestnuts taste soft when cooked, but bright chestnuts are sweet. The choice depends on different people's tastes.

Make small cuts: Use a knife to make a small cut on each chestnut. This can save fuel, cook the chestnuts as quickly as possible, and make it easier to peel and shell the cooked chestnuts.

Cook in a pot: Pour the chestnuts into a pot, add water and boil. After the water boils, change to low heat and continue heating. When the chestnuts are cooked, the cracks will become larger and you can smell the fragrance.

Peeling and peeling: After the cooked chestnuts are put into cold water, take them out immediately and remove the shell and skin as soon as possible. It is easier at this time. It will be difficult to peel after they are dry.

Enjoy the deliciousness: The peeled chestnuts can be eaten directly, or you can put them in the refrigerator and add a few to the soup, which is also very delicious.

Tips

In fact, chestnuts do not taste good if boiled directly in water. When soaked in water, the nutrients in the chestnuts are easily lost, and the chestnuts will also lose their original sweetness. If you are particular about the taste, steaming or frying is recommended. For example, fried chestnuts are more delicious than boiled ones:

Use a knife to cut each chestnut, making sure to cut only two-thirds of the skin on the side. Then add a little cooking oil to the pan, put the chestnuts in and stir-fry over low heat. Gradually you will hear a crackling sound. Stir-fry over low heat until you can smell the chestnut aroma (about 15 minutes). Then taste it. The roasted chestnut skin opens up with a light bite, just like cracking melon seeds. s
