Eczema on hands and feet

Eczema on hands and feet

Infant eczema is a very common disease nowadays. It is generally a common allergic skin disease in children. It is very likely to occur in summer. If infant eczema occurs in summer, do not treat it blindly because it is a misunderstanding. Frequent scalding and washing will only lead to worsening of the condition, or even more serious eczema due to excessive dryness of the skin. The abuse of some drugs cannot guarantee that they are hormone-free. Hormones only provide temporary relief, but cannot eradicate it, so eczema will recur and worsen.

If your baby has eczema, don't fall into these misunderstandings

Misunderstanding 1: Blindly avoiding food

Infant eczema, known as milk rash in traditional Chinese medicine, is misinterpreted by many young parents, who believe it is caused by eating milk, eggs, peanuts, fish, shrimp, etc., so they blindly prevent their babies from eating all of the above foods.

Misunderstanding 2: Frequent washing and ironing

Many adults have had this experience: when the itchiness on the body is unbearable, taking a hot bath to heat the itchy area will feel very comfortable. Therefore, some young parents use the same method to deal with baby eczema, frequently washing their babies to treat eczema.

Little do we know that when we use soap or hot water to wash the baby, we also wash away the protective oil layer on the baby's skin surface, making the skin more dry and more susceptible to eczema.

Myth 3: Abuse of hormones

When babies have severe itching attacks due to eczema, many parents will use anti-itch and anti-inflammatory ointments to relieve the immediate problem. In order to help babies quickly eradicate eczema, some parents will be particularly "thoughtful" and help their babies apply ointment over large areas several times a day.

What should I do if my baby has eczema?

1. Keep your skin dry

Do not use hot water to wash your baby's face. Use warm water and avoid using strong alkaline soaps. Keep your skin dry, neither too dry nor apply moisturizer with too many additives.

2. Cut your nails frequently

Cut your baby's nails frequently to prevent them from scratching their skin and causing secondary infection.

3. Choose products that do not contain hormones

There are many kinds of medicines on the market for treating baby eczema, but most of the medicines that claim to be quick and effective contain hormones. Once the medicine is stopped, the baby's eczema may relapse or even become more serious. Moreover, the residues after long-term use can cause abnormal skin color.

When a baby develops eczema on his face, parents should not apply medicine to the baby without authorization. They should use medicine under the guidance of a doctor according to the severity of the condition.

4. Avoid certain foods

Let your baby eat less animal protein, such as milk and eggs, and this must be done under the supervision of a doctor or nutritionist. Fish, shrimp and other irritating foods should be avoided during this period. For breastfeeding babies, mothers should also be careful not to eat seafood, shrimp, crab, and peppers.

5. Avoid external stimulation

In summer, after your baby sweats during exercise, you should wipe off his sweat carefully; when the weather is cold and dry, you should apply anti-allergic non-oily moisturizer to your baby. In addition to paying attention to weather changes, parents should not let their babies wear clothes that are easy to irritate the skin, such as wool, silk, nylon, etc.
