How to conceive twins?

I believe that most couples are eager to have twins when they are preparing to have a baby. Especially, having twins, a boy and a girl, is the dream of countless couples. But everyone knows that in real life, the probability of twins is very small, and the probability of twins, a boy and a girl, is even smaller. So having twins, a boy and a girl, is something that can only be encountered by chance, and neither couple can force to have twins, a boy and a girl.

How to conceive twins?

Having twins is related to genetics. If you really want to have twins, you can find a spouse with a family history of twins. In theory, taking folic acid, hormones, etc. can promote ovulation, but the risk is very high. At present, if you want twins, in vitro fertilization is the best way.

1. Find a wife with twins

Boy-girl twins mainly focus on the girl. Boy-girl twins are a type of twins. Because the two fertilized eggs develop into embryos separately, they will form twins of different genders. So how can we have 2 fertilized eggs? This depends on luck, because normally, the woman only releases one egg every month, but in a few cases she may release two eggs, and if both eggs are fertilized, there is a chance of having twins, a boy and a girl.

2. Can taking folic acid increase the chances of conceiving twins?

A Swedish medical research institute recently pointed out that women who take folic acid have nearly twice the chance of conceiving twins than women who do not take it. It is reported that Swedish researchers have been studying and analyzing the information and data on the medication taken by local pregnant women since 1994. They found that among 2,569 pregnant women who had taken folic acid, 2.8 out of every 100 children they gave birth to were twins, while among pregnant women who did not take folic acid, the proportion was 1.5.

The researchers pointed out that the reason why taking folic acid increases the chance of having twins is not clear. Experts estimate that folic acid supplements may increase the frequency of ovulation, allowing multiple eggs to enter the uterus, and thus produce twins. Whether this conclusion is correct remains to be confirmed by further research.

3. Ovulation-inducing drugs

Xinhua News Agency recently published an article about "taking oral ovulation-promoting drugs to increase the chances of having twins". The article pointed out that the number of "artificial" twins is currently increasing significantly, and doctors are deeply worried about this phenomenon. In fact, most drugs that promote ovulation are clinically used to treat infertility. Taking them casually in order to have twins is not only harmful to the body of the expectant mother, but even if twins are really born, the health of the children cannot be guaranteed.

If ovulation-inducing drugs are used, the chance of having twins will indeed be greatly increased, but generally healthy women ovulate one egg per month. Artificially using ovulation-inducing drugs to induce the ovaries to ovulate more often will result in ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, such as dizziness, nausea, and liver and kidney damage. If necessary measures are not taken, it will be very dangerous for both mother and child.

4. Increase hormones

Secret recipes for having twins were once very popular among the people of Sichuan. However, according to research by scientific researchers, most of these so-called secret recipes are drugs that can promote gonadal hormones. The main effect of this type of drug is to stimulate the anterior pituitary gland to secrete gonadotropin, which can induce ovulation after taking the drug. This type of drug is also used to treat infertility. If healthy women take it improperly, they may experience adverse reactions such as abdominal pain, breast swelling and pain, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, rash, blurred vision, and severe cases may cause cancer.

5. In vitro fertilization

In vitro fertilization is a process that uses ovulation induction technology to promote the development of follicles in a woman's ovaries, then removes the eggs for in vitro fertilization, and then transplants the developed embryos into the uterus for gestation. Because this process is carried out under the artificial control of the doctor, in order to ensure the quality of the fertilized eggs, several eggs are generally selected for fertilization. When they develop to a certain extent, the best 2 to 4 eggs are selected to be implanted in the mother's uterine cavity. Finally, the best embryo is retained to allow it to implant and develop in the uterus until the fetus is born.

However, some women's physical conditions allow two embryos to develop at the same time. If they also request it, doctors can retain two embryos for them, thus giving birth to twins. However, the Ministry of Health has clear regulations on how many fertilized eggs should be implanted: those over 35 years old can implant 3, and those under 35 can implant no more than 2, in order to minimize the birth rate of twins or multiple births.
