How to deal with woodlice at home

How to deal with woodlice at home

Woodlice are what we call woodlice. They like cool and humid places, such as rotten wood, stones or under rotten leaves. They can sometimes appear in houses or courtyards. Some people live in high-rise buildings, and woodlice may crawl up from the sewers. If you want to completely get rid of woodlice, the best way is to keep the house clean and free of moisture. Only by solving the problem fundamentally can you eliminate hidden dangers.

1. Are woodlice harmful to the human body?

Woodlice, also known as pill bugs, are harmless to humans.

Woodchuck is a traditional Chinese medicine with the effects of breaking blood, promoting diuresis, detoxifying and relieving pain. Woodlice do not pose a direct threat to humans. Instead, some people raise them for use as medicine or in experiments.

However, woodlice are still pests.

The woodlice mainly harm tomatoes, rapeseed, cucumbers, etc. Symptoms include adults and larvae that damage leaves, causing notches. In severe cases, the leaf flesh may be eaten entirely, leaving only the veins and petioles. The adult is 9 to 15 mm long, ranging from brown to gray-blue, with yellow-white edges on the carapace. When touched, the body can curl into a ball. It is also called a dumpling worm or watermelon worm. The Toxoplasma gondii carried in its body mainly invades the human eyes, brain, heart, liver, lymph nodes, etc., causing corresponding organ diseases. Once a pregnant woman is infected, the pathogen can infect the fetus through the placenta, directly affecting fetal development and causing fetal malformations.

Second, the method of completely eliminating woodlice

1. How to kill woodlice on the lawn?

1) Do not apply organic fertilizer that is not fully decomposed.

2) Keep the lawn clean and remove weeds and garbage in time.

3) Chemical control: when the occurrence is large, you can choose to spray 2500 times diluted 10% imidacloprid wettable powder, 3000 times diluted 20% cypermethrin emulsifiable concentrate, 3000 times diluted 2.5% cypermethrin, 3000 times diluted 2.5% kungfu emulsifiable concentrate, etc. You can also combine it with spraying 1000 times diluted 50% cypermethrin emulsifiable concentrate for the prevention and control of underground lawn pests.

2. How to kill woodlice in the home?

1) Woodlice like moisture, so make sure the house is well ventilated and dry.

Hang out your seasonal clothes again and organize them in compression bags or storage boxes. Placing moth balls in wardrobes, cupboards and corners is an effective method.

2) Preparation and use

Use a spray bottle, chlorine-containing disinfectant, such as 84, and tap water; pour the disinfectant and water into the spray bottle (the ratio is 1:5); spray towards the insects.

3) Methods of killing woodlice

The method without medication was not very effective. I applied the medication in various locations in the toilet. The effect was not very good on the first day and not many woodlice were killed. The effect was obvious but not thorough on the second day; it was almost there on the third day.

4) Some dead corners in the bathroom and kitchen should be cleaned thoroughly, the sewer pipes should be kept dry and cleaned in time if there is water. Clothes, bedding and daily necessities can be taken outdoors to dry when the weather is good. When at home, try to keep the air flowing. In addition, some desiccants can be placed in the corners of the room. If there are children at home, pay special attention to the placement of the desiccant.

3. How to kill woodlice in the fields?

1) Apply poisoned soil

Mix 2.3% cypermethrin or 20% cypermethrin with soil and spread on the ground, using 50-100 grams of medicine per mu and 10-20 kilograms of soil.

2) Ground spraying

Spray with 500 times diluted 50% DDT; if you cover the ground with a curtain or other covering after applying the pesticide, the insects will hide inside and die from poisoning because they are afraid of the light.

The reason why woodlice and woodlice breed in homes is mainly because the home environment is too dark and humid, which provides favorable conditions for the growth of woodlice and woodlice. The only way to eliminate woodlice at home is basically prevention. If you want to eliminate them, you still need to use some medicine.
