How to repel mosquitoes most effectively and non-toxicly

Repelling mosquitoes is something we have to do every summer. Mosquitoes not only bite people, but some of them can also spread some diseases. Malaria, hepatitis B, etc. can all be transmitted to the human body in this way. Many traditional mosquito repellent methods are no longer of much use nowadays. So what kind of mosquito repellent method is the most effective and non-toxic? The following are the most effective ways to repel mosquitoes. Let’s take a look.

1. Smell repels mosquitoes

Usually, you can collect some orange peels, cloves, mugwort, etc., dry them, put them in stockings, put them by the window and under the door sill and stick them with tape. You can also mash fresh garlic, onions, and leeks, put them in a container, and put it outside the window to repel mosquitoes.

2. Mugwort, black pepper

Buy or collect some mugwort, mugwort leaves, and asarum to make beautiful sachets and hang them on windows and doors, or on the head of the bed, which can also achieve the effect of repelling mosquitoes. Black pepper also has a significant effect in repelling mosquitoes. You can sprinkle it on windows, doorways or the edges of flower pots to prevent mosquitoes from breeding and invading.

3. Sandalwood

Light some sandalwood in the bedroom between 18:00 and 20:00, or light some mugwort outside the window or at the door to prevent mosquitoes from entering. In summer, people often use mosquito coils to repel mosquitoes. I do not recommend it because the main ingredient of mosquito coils is pyrethroids; the general formula is: 0.2% d-allylthrin, 0.3% cypermethrin, and 0.1% permethrin. It contains trace amounts of poison, which has little effect on the human body, but if you stay in a room with poor ventilation, you will feel uncomfortable when you wake up the next day.

4. Essential Oil

Gently drop a few drops of medicated oil on the used mosquito coils that have lost their efficacy, plug in the power supply, and you can achieve a stronger mosquito repellent effect while saving tablets. If there is a power outage, you can also light one or two used tablets together. After a few minutes, they will have the effect of repelling and killing mosquitoes. You can also try the above money-saving mosquito repellent methods.

5. Soap, sugar, washing powder

Close the doors and windows, place a basin outside the window, add some soap (stearic acid), white sugar, and a small amount of laundry detergent into the basin. The next day, there will be some dead mosquitoes in the basin. This liquid makes the female mosquito mistakenly believe that the environment is suitable for the survival of "children" (with water and food), so she lays her eggs in it, and accidentally falls into the liquid and drowns.
